Rocket1 Racing Driver Carries 45-Point Advantage Into Season Finale

SHINNISTON, W. Va. (Oct. 12, 2026) — Brandon Sheppard maintained his hold on the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series championship lead with a pair of top-10 finishes in the inaugural Clash on the Wabash at Eldora Speedway.

The New Berlin, Illinois, native finished runner-up in Friday’s preliminary before following up with a sixth-place finish in Saturday’s $50,000 finale, keeping his championship bid on track heading into the season finale.

“We were kind of running off of that brown a little bit when we were leading the race,” Sheppard said following Friday’s podium finish. “It got real shiny. The two lapped cars in front of me were swinging out so wide, so I didn’t think I could get a good run on the top. Obviously, that is where I needed to be, and Ricky did that. We always race hard and clean together. I definitely felt I gave that one up in lapped traffic there, but we were a little bit different on tires than these other two guys in the top three. I got to where I couldn’t steer a little bit at the end. If I could have gotten to the top, it would have been at least a little harder for them to get by me.”

The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series’ penultimate event of the season brought Sheppard and the Rocket1 Racing team to Eldora Speedway for a two-day program. After winning his heat race Friday, Sheppard led 20 laps of the 40-lap preliminary feature before losing the lead on lap 37 and settling for second.

Sheppard returned Saturday with another heat race win, earning a second-row starting spot for the $50,000-to-win A-Main. He went on to finish sixth in the 50-lap finale.
