Tanner Mullens Claims Heartland Mod Tour Win at Salina Highbanks
Clinches Heartland Modified Tour Championship Ahead of USMTS Finale
WICHITA, Kan. (Oct. 26, 2026) — The second round of Joe Duvall’s Funkadelic Extravaganza belonged to USRA Heartland Modified Tour points leader Tanner Mullens, who captured Saturday night’s American Racer Modified Series feature at Salina Highbanks Speedway.
Driving the Mel Hambelton Ford No. 02 Modified, Mullens earned the $5,000 winner’s share, a $4,400 bonus for laps led from Joe Duvall and an additional $191 from Pettyjohn Plastering and Construction, bringing his total payday to $9,591.
The victory marked his 11th of the 2026 season.
“Hats off to Joe and the Duvall family for putting together this entire weekend,” Mullens said. “It’s awesome for us racers to be able to race for good money. I’m hoping his recovery is going well, and I can’t wait till he’s back out here racing with us again. Everyone out here misses racing with him. Big thanks to my family and all the sponsors that make this possible.”
The three-night event opened Friday at Springfield Raceway in Missouri, where Mullens won his heat race before finishing fourth in the 25-lap feature.
On Saturday at Salina Highbanks Speedway, Mullens again won his heat race before taking control of the feature early. After passing early leader Tyler Stevens, Mullens led laps 14-40 to secure the victory.
Mullens wrapped up the weekend Sunday at Arrowhead Speedway, finishing eighth in the finale as part of the 4 State Championship program. Following Sunday’s action, he was crowned USRA Heartland Modified Tour champion.
