Wil Herrington Dominates National 100 at East Alabama Motor Speedway
Claims Career-Best $25,000 Payday; I-55 & Senoia Remain on 2026 Schedule
HAWKINSVILLE, Ga. (Nov. 2, 2026) — After what has been a challenging season filled with more than its share of bad luck, Wil Herrington finally had a weekend worth celebrating.
Following a frustrating start to the 52nd annual National 100 weekend at East Alabama Motor Speedway, Herrington bounced back in dominant fashion Saturday night, leading all 60 laps of the finale to claim the $25,000 victory, the richest payday of his career.
“I really feel like we had a car to win last night. We just had tough luck, like as normal we have here,” Herrington said. “But we just turned it around tonight. It got one lane, but these guys have put in so much work in the past two or three weeks … it’s unbelievable. This is amazing. I never would’ve dreamed I’d be standing here.”
The weekend doubleheader brought Herrington and the Steve Lampley-owned No. 33 Rocket Chassis Late Model to the East Alabama oval for an unsanctioned program.
Friday's opener initially showed plenty of promise for the 30-year-old, who claimed a third-place finish in his heat race before rolling into the 40-lap feature. Starting 10th, Herrington quickly worked his way through the field and took command by lap three. However, contact with another competitor on the following circuit sent him spinning, abruptly ending what had been a promising run. Herrington attempted to continue before ultimately retiring from the event on lap 21.
In search of revenge on Saturday, Herrington outran Jimmy Owens to win his heat race and secure a starting spot on the front row for the National 100 finale. Once the green flag dropped, he took control of the race and never looked back, leading from start to finish to secure his sixth overall win of the season and the biggest victory of his young career.

Herrington is set to enter a single event this weekend, tackling the Midwest LateModel Racing Association (MLRA) season finale at I-55 Federated Auto Parts Raceway. Saturday’s Fall Frost Classic finale boasts a $5,000-to-win program.
