Ross Camponovo Ends 2011 With Top Five in Gumbo Nationals
Clarksdale, Mississippi (11/09/11) –Ross Camponovo took his #18 Camponovo Farms/Victory Circle M1 Chassis By Moyer/RPM Racing Engine Super Late Model into battle over the weekend in the 5th Annual Gumbo Nationals and came away a top five finish to show for his efforts.
Ross entered his final event of the weekend at his home track, Greenville Speedway (Greenville, Mississippi), as he took part in the 5th Annual Gumbo Nationals. With a $7,000 winner's check on the line for the event, Camponovo started the weekend by advancing from the fourth starting spot to finish second in his heat race on Friday night to lock into the eighth starting spot for Saturday night's, 70 lap finale. In the feature Camponovo would quickly work his way forward as he made his presence known in the top five. He would race his way to as high as the fourth position before falling to a fifth place finish on the last lap. He crossed the finish line behind race winner, Bub McCool, Jack Sullivan, Kyle Pleasant, and Rodney Wing. Full weekend results are available at www.PRODirtCarSeries.com.
"This new car is just awesome, and I just hate that the 2011 season is over. I can't wait to start the 2012 season in this new hotrod," commented Camponovo.
With the 2011 season now over, Ross is already looking ahead to the 2012 campaign, and is tentatively planning to open things during the 6th Annual Wild West Shootout at USA Raceway (Tucson, Arizona) on January 13th-22nd.
