Ray Cook Looks for Second Ice Bowl Title this Weekend in 2012 Season Opener!
(BRASSTOWN, NORTH CAROLINA) The D&R Motorsports team and Brasstown, North Carolina driver Ray Cook will open their 2012 racing season this upcoming weekend (January 7-8) at the Talladega Short Track in Eastaboga, Alabama. The last time the #53 was on the track, Ray dominated the annual ‘Gobbler’ at the Cleveland (TN) Speedway back on November 19. Ray is hoping to start 2012 the same way 2011 ended, as he will shoot for the victory in ‘Ice Bowl XXI’ at TST this weekend.
This year’s version of the ‘Ice Bowl’ will once again feature a $6,000 winning purse for the Super Late Models. After a couple of practice days on Thursday and Friday, qualifying and heat races will be held on Saturday, with the consolation events and the A-Main scheduled for Sunday afternoon. Ray was the 2009 victor of the ‘Ice Bowl’ and finished a strong fourth last season. Additional information on this unsanctioned program can be viewed online at www.talladegashorttrack.com.
“We just got done lettering the car and we should be pretty close to being ready to go racing this weekend,†exclaimed Cook earlier today from the D&R Motorsports race shop. “It looks like the weather is shaping up to be pretty good, so I am excited to get back to the track. The Ice Bowl is all about how well you qualify and run in the heat on Saturday. Generally, to run up front on Sunday, you have to start towards the front and that means having your ducks in a row during preliminary action. Hopefully, we can put together a strong weekend and start our season out on a great note!â€
Ray Cook would like to thank all of his supporters including: D&R Motorsports, Hicks & Ingle Company, MasterSbilt Race Cars, Race Engine Design, PPM Racing Products, A+ Moving and Storage Company, K&N Filters, PRC Racing, Real Racing Wheels, Bill Elliott Racing, James Cook Construction, American Race Tire, Bert Transmissions, Brodix Cylinder Heads, Chizmark & Larson Insurance Agency, DBR Starters, Delph Communications, Demon Carburetors, Eibach Springs, FK Rod Ends, Frankland Racing Supply, GW Performance, Integra Shocks, ISC Racers Tape, JB Performance, Mason Racin', MSD Ignition, Peterson Fluid Systems, Schaeffer’s Racing Oil, Scott Performance Wire, Stealth Carburetors, Sweet Mfg., T&D Machine, Turbo Start Batteries, VP Racing Fuels, Wiles Driveshafts, and Wilwood.
