Tanner Kerr Racing Ready to Start 2012

    March 21, 2012

Tanner Kerr Racing Prepares for Season Opener after Busy Off-Season; Will Run for Winchester Limited Late Model Championship in 2012.

It’s been a busy couple of weeks at the Winchester, Virginia race shop of Tanner Kerr Racing. Tanner and his team have spent countless hours in the shop preparing his self owned Rocket chassis for the March 24th season opener at the nearby Winchester Speedway. Finishing 9th in the 2011 season long point battle was a great accomplishment, but Tanner and his crew look to improve on that dramatically in 2012. The year started off on a sour note when during Winchester’s practice this past Saturday, the immaculate white/blue/pink 41* lost a driveshaft, which in turn did some other damage to the car. Just when things looked very dismal for making the first race, the racing community has stepped in with parts and help to make sure that Tanner is ready for opening day.

“I am just overwhelmed with all the calls I have gotten from competitors and racing people expressing concern and offering their help in fixing my car” said the 20 year old. “If you would have asked me Sunday, I would have said there was no way we could make it for this week. It was more about the money needed to replace the damaged parts then it was time. My guys are awesome; if needed, they would work around the clock for this team. I guess it was better to have that stuff break in practice than it would have been to have it break during our heat race in a pack of cars” Added Kerr.

“I am just so thankful for the support I get from my family, sponsors and fans. They are always there to pick me up when I get discouraged” said Tanner. “It is hard to believe that it has been over two years since my Dad passed away. I know he is with me every time I strap in that race car, and that in itself, lets me live the dream that he and I always envisioned, way back when we started in Quarter Midgets. My crew has worked so hard this winter and without Gunner, Matt, Jim, Dana and Justin, none of this would be possible. My girlfriend Amanda is my biggest fan and having her by my side, makes everything so much better. If you look across the rear spoiler of my car it says Truly Blessed, and that is certainly how I feel” stated Kerr.

After spending the 2010 & 2011 seasons traveling around to various race tracks, Tanner Kerr Racing has decided to stay closer to home this year. “We are really going into this season with one goal in mind and that is to win the Winchester point championship. I feel our team and especially me as a driver gained valuable experience racing at those different tracks the last few years. We are going to put that knowledge to work and go hard after the championship” stated Tanner.

Tanner Kerr Racing would like to thank all the team’s sponsors:
