2012 Season Ready to Kick-off for Tyler Hershey Racing; Releases 2012 Schedule.
When the checkered flag fell on a cold day at Winchester Speedway some five months ago, it brought the end to the 2011 season for Hershey Racing. In the real scheme of things last October is not that long ago, but for Mercersburg, PA driver Tyler Hershey it feels like an eternity. The waiting is over and this Saturday night, at Hagerstown Speedway, Tyler will strap into the family owned Hershey’s Racing Engines/Lazer Chassis #74 for the first time in competitive mode since that day last October. The team did participate in the Speedway’s open practice session this past weekend, but now it is time to get down to doing what Tyler and his family love to do; that is race.
“I can’t wait for Saturday night†said Tyler taking a break in-between college courses at Penn State/Mont Alto. “The car was real good at practice this past weekend. We actually had nothing break or fall off†added Tyler with a laugh. “My dad, uncle and the whole crew have spent so many hours with me at the race shop this winter rebuilding and preparing our equipment that I want to get a good start to the season and re-pay them back for all of the hard work. There is just no way that I could ever do this without the support of my parents and our extended family†added Hershey.
Tyler Hershey Racing is a family endeavor that has had continued success on and off the track. It is a racing family that will officially become larger in the future, as Tyler and long time girlfriend Jenny Peden were recently engaged while vacationing in Florida. “Jenny has been so supportive of me and my racing for a long time. I think she loves it just as much as I do and I wouldn’t ever want to imagine not having her in my life. Her Mom & Dad are some of my biggest fans and they have been considered family for a long time†stated Tyler.
“Our team is 100% family owned and funded. Mom & Dad have sacrificed a lot my whole career to make sure I could race. There are times when we are racing week to week financially, but they always figure out how to get us to the next event†said the 21 year old. “That said, I have some great sponsors that help us out, and without them there is no way we could race at this level. They are all the type of people and companies who will call and see how we did, while lending encouragement and help throughout the year. We have had all our 2011 sponsors return and have added some great new product help in 2012 from Schaeffer Oil, Quarter Master, Wix Filters & Rod End Supply. I am extremely honored to be able to represent each and every one of our sponsors†added Hershey.
For 2012, fans can find the immaculate White/Red/Black #74 racing all over the Tri-State area of Pennsylvania, Maryland & Virginia. The season kicks off this Saturday at Hagerstown Speedway where Tyler will run all of the Super Late Model races scheduled at the Maryland speedway. When not scheduled at Hagerstown the team has plans to travel to Winchester Speedway as well as run specials, AMS Speedweek, Lucas Oil & WoO series races in the area.
