Billy Beachler picks up two top 10 finishes with the Steel Block Bandits; Racing close to home this weekend.
Billy Beachler and crew headed to Virginia last weekend for back to back Steel Block Bandit races. After struggling the week before, at the Bandit opener in Pennsylvania, the team worked hard during the week, in their Franklin, West Virginia shop, trying to give Billy a better car. When the dust settled, the Cecil B. Arthur owned team had picked up two 9th place finishes for their effort.
Friday night the team headed to Natural Bridge Speedway in scenic Natural Bridge, Virginia. A Steel Block Bandit sanctioned, 30 lap event was on tap, paying $1500 to win. Billy would end up finishing 4th in his competitive heat race and drove a steady race to finish, in the 9th position when the checkered flag fell at the end of the night.
Saturday saw the team make the trek up the Shenandoah Valley, unloading at Eastside Speedway in Waynesboro, Virginia. It seemed like a case of Déjà vu, when once again Billy finished 4th in his heat race. He also followed it up with his second 9th place feature finish in as many nights. With two top 10 finishes, Billy finds himself sitting 5th, only 58 points out of the lead in the latest edition of the Steel Block Bandit point standings.
“It certainly was a lot better than last week†said the 31 year old Beachler. “The car was consistent all weekend long. Cecil has provided me with great equipment and the crew has worked real hard. We will just keep on tweaking on this rocket chassis, and get it closer every week. We are racing against a fast bunch of guys every week and I’m just excited to get to race like we are†added Billy.
With the Steel Block Bandits having the next couple of weeks off Billy and his CBA Motorsports team will pick and choose unsanctioned races. This weekend, plans are to stay in the Mountaineer state and run at Elkins Raceway in Kerens, West Virginia, on Friday night. The team will then take the rest of the Holiday weekend off so Billy and the crew can spend time with Friends and family this Holiday weekend. Please remember to celebrate and give thanks to the men and women who have served our country, this Memorial Day Weekend.
