Eric Cooley Claims First Career Super Late Model Win
Fulton, MS (07/30/12) – Eric made history on Friday night by winning the first Super Late Model feature of his career with a $2,000 triumph at Thunderhill Speedway (Summertown, Tennessee) in his #33b Bryson Motorsports/Barry Wright/Jeff Burns Racing Engine Super Late Model.
Fifteen entries were on hand for the event for the Thunderhill Speedway event, and Cooley started the night by rocketing to fast time honors with an 11.632 second lap around the high-banked oval. Via his qualifying effort he earned the pole position for the 30 lap finale with Jerry Owens starting to his outside. After a failed attempt to get the race underway, the second time would be the charm, and Cooley bolted to the lead. Despite a late race challenge from Josh Putnam Eric would go on to claim the win, which came over Putnam, David Earl Gentry, and Jerry Owens. Full results are available at www.ThunderhillRacing.com.
"This was a really special deal for me to get my first Super Late Model win. I can't thank Bryson Motorsports and all of my great sponsors for standing behind me. Hopefully this is the first of many to come," noted Cooley.

The $3,500-to-win, Southern All Star (SAS) Super Late Model event drew a field of thirty-one competitors, and after winning his b-main Cooley locked into the twelfth starting spot for the finale. In the main event Cooley would race around mid-pack for the duration of the feature before crossing the finish line in the thirteenth position. Full results from the event are available at www.SASDirt.com .
Eric concluded his busy weekend on Sunday evening at Magnolia Motor Speedway (Columbus, Mississippi) with a $2,500-to-win, Mississippi State Championship Challenge Series (MSCCS) event. Thirty-four Super Late Models were on hand for the program, and it would prove to be a rough night for Cooley as he fell short of locking into the feature via time trials and b-main action as his night came to a disappointing, early end.
