Chris Brown Rallies to U.S. National Dirt Track Championship
Spring, Texas (09/19/12) – Chris debuted his #21 Lone Star Hydro & Maintenance/Roush Yates Racing Engine Open Wheel Modified in fine style over the weekend by scoring the $3,000 win in the Port-A-Cool U.S. National Dirt Track Championship at the Texas Motor Speedway Dirt Track (Justin, Texas).
Over 100 Open Wheel Modifieds from across the country entered the event, and in preliminary action on Friday night Chris charged to the win in the third heat race to lock into the A-Scramble. With the top eight finishers locking into Saturday night's finale Brown finished ninth, which left him one spot out. As a result, he started on the pole of a b-main on Saturday night and raced to the win to earn the ninth starting spot for the main event. As the feature went green Chris began working his way forward and would ultimately find his way into the lead on lap 31. Once out front he never looked back as he led the final ten laps on his way to his third win of the year, which came over John Whittington, Shane Hebert, Jason Ingalls, and John Allen.
“We’ve been here a lot and every time we do good, it gets taken away,†Brown said of Texas Motor Speedway. “So it has been frustrating, but that is really of our own doing. But tonight it all finally worked out.â€
