Collin Thirlby Prepares For a Weekend in The Land of Lincoln!

(Traverse City, Michigan) After starting the season off down in Florida at Bubba Raceway Park and Volusia Raceway the 23 year old UMP Modified racer is looking forward to a full weekend of racing in Illinois. The weekend will start off at Belle Clair Speedway in Belleville, Illinois on Friday. Highland Speedway in Highland, Illinois will follow that on Saturday.

After taking the last couple weekends off of racing and focused on regrouping after the 3 1/2 week long Florida trip everyone at Collin Thirlby Racing is looking forward to getting started back up in the midwest. "We had a pretty good Flordia, we had some ups and downs but I think we figured some stuff out on this new Diamond Race Car that will benefit us tremendously when we get back on the road," says Collin. " I was happy with our performance down in Florida, we made every show but one down there and we ran with some really good competition." It helped out a lot that Ryan Thomas from Diamond Race Cars was down there the whole time as well as his wife Heather. "Yeah I can't thank Ryan and Heather enough for everything they have done for me over the last year. They are by far the best chassis builders out there right now and just all around awesome people."

As the 2013 season begins up north don't be suprised if you see the #47 Thirlby Automotive, Diamond Race Car at many different tracks. "As of right now the plans are about the same as last year, hit and miss, don't follow any points or nothing just get out to as many tracks as we can and see if we can improve a little bit from last year," stated Collin who raced 76 races last year at about 40 different tracks. "I found that the more tracks you race at the better racer you will be. My brother Brandon (accomplished late model racer) and I traveled all over the place a few years back and we hit the whole Summer Nationals and I witnessed first hand on how much he improved. He went from a 10th place car to a guy that can show up just about anywhere and be in the hunt for the win night in and night out."

In the 2013 season the loyal sponsors that Collin Thirlby Racing would like to thank would be Thirlby Automotive, Diamond Race Cars, Corrigan Race Fuels, Homestead Motorsports, FK Rod Ends, Royal Purple, The Turn 3 Gang, Print Worx, and Absolute Apparel.
