Dennis Erb, Jr. Grabs Jackson 100 Top Ten; Sets Sights on Knoxville
(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb Racing rejoined the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series schedule of events on September 20-21 in the states of Kentucky and Indiana. Following a rain-out of the $10,000 to win 'Ralph Latham Memorial' at the Florence Speedway in Union, Kentucky on Friday night, the #28 team rolled into the legendary Brownstown Speedway on Saturday evening. The 34th edition of the 'Jackson 100' was held at the 1/4-mile Brownstown, Indiana facility and a $15,000 top prize was on the line.
Dennis Erb, Jr. posted the seventh quickest lap in Group B during the qualifying session and later grabbed the fourth and final transfer spot through his heat race behind only prelim winner Don O'Neal, Eddie Carrier, Jr., and Scott Bloomquist. After starting the 100-lap 'Jackson 100' from the outside of the seventh row, Dennis survived the rough track conditions and a late-race pit stop to claim a solid ninth place performance in the extra-distance affair. The Carpentersville, Illinois ace still finds himself fifth in the latest LOLMDS point standings following the Brownstown biggie. Complete results can be obtained by clicking on www.lucasdirt.com.
Next up for the #28 team will be the 10th Annual ‘Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals’ at the renowned Knoxville Raceway in Knoxville, Iowa from September 26-28. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will preside over the huge three-day crown jewel event, which kicks off tonight and tomorrow with a pair of $7,000 to win preliminary shows. The ‘Lucas Oil Late Model Knoxville Nationals’ will then conclude on Saturday evening with a D-Main, C-Main, B-Main, and the 100-lap, $40,000 to win feature event. In all, over $270,000 worth of prize money will be up for grabs this weekend at Knoxville Raceway.
The Lucas Oil Production Studios will also be on hand to film this three-day extravaganza that will air on three different TV Networks in 2013 including FOX Sports 1, NBC Sports, and MAVTV. Dennis won the B-Main last year at Knoxville and rallied to finish twelfth in the final rundown of Saturday’s 100-lapper.
