Tyler Bare makes a statement; Clinches the Virginia Motor Speedway Aaron’s Pro Late Model Title in convincing fashion.
At the beginning of the 2015 season, Booper Bare Racing and its driver Tyler Bare set some goals that they had hoped to accomplish. One such goal was that the team would support Virginia Motor Speedway when they raced, in an effort to win the 2015 Aaron’s Pro Late Model Championship at the Jamaica, Virginia facility. This past Saturday night, that goal was realized when the young Rockbridge Baths, Virginia chauffeur wrapped up the title that he so coveted. In winning this championship, history was made, as Tyler has now joined his Grandfather Tom and Father Booper as the only family of champions at Virginia Motor Speedway that spans three generations. How the title was wrapped up is what makes this driver and his team that much more impressive and is what is good and right within our sport.
Many drivers entering into the final points night with a lead, would race conservatively, not taking any chances and only ride around trying to stay out of trouble. This team decided to do what they do best and that is race hard and win races. Tyler and his crew unloaded the teams Southlex Cattle Company /Kenny Lamb Race Engines/MBH Race Car and prepared it to do battle against the other fine competitors, which on this night included a second Booper Bare Racing entry driven by team owner Booper Bare. Anyone who thought that Tyler would race conservative realized just how wrong they were as the 21 year old toured the speedway right on the edge, while laying down the quickest time during qualifying. While his team went to work preparing the Rhodenizer Heating & Air/Wood Heavy Equipment machines for the nights 25 lap feature, Tyler would draw the invert of 4 putting his closest point competitor on the front row beside his dad, who after qualifying 4th would start on the pole. As the feature started, Tyler would roll off 4th knowing he just had to stay out of trouble and finish, but the younger Bare immediately got up on the wheel and started his march forward. On a lap 13 restart, Tyler would get under his dad and race into second. Over the next few laps, Tyler would start to reel in the leader. By the 22nd lap, Tyler would place his DeSigns/Conner Produce Co/HTMA No.30 right on the back bumper of the leader, all the while being patient and waiting for the right time to make his move. That time came coming down to complete lap 24 as the white flag waived, Tyler would shoot into the lead claiming his 4th 2015 checkered at the speedway and his seasons 6th overall. Tyler was greeted in victory lane by a mob of family and well wishers as he was crowned the 2015 Track Champion. Tyler will be officially awarded his Championship at the tracks banquet later in the year.
“It was just such a great night†exclaimed Bare, when reached Tuesday night at his race shop. “To win the championship is cool enough but to have my name listed along with Dad’s and Grandfather’s is an honor that hasn’t even sunk in yet. There is such a long list of people I need to thank that helped us accomplish this. Without my family’s support I wouldn’t even be racing and I owe them everything. Also, every one of my sponsors help in their own way and they are all a very important part of the team. The guys that donate their time both at the track and in the shop to get these cars prepared are second to none and they are appreciated more then they know. Anyone who knows us knows that we believe that 90 percent of the races won are won through preparation during the week and I would put my team up against anyone in the sport†added Tyler.
With it being a holiday weekend and the VMS Championship locked up the team hopped on the Fastrak East Coast Rumble Tour events and headed to Wythe Speedway this past Sunday to compete in the $3,000 to win Pro Late Model Nationals. A runner up heat finish put Tyler starting within the top 10 for the 45 lap feature. Tyler certainly passed more cars than anyone out there but unfortunately had to restart in the rear on 2 different occasions after getting caught up in someone else’s mistake, the last time running just outside the top 5 with only 6 laps to go. Once the dust settled, Bare charged back through the field but had to settle for a hard earned 11th place finish. The next morning, the team left Wythe and headed towards Travelers Rest Speedway in South Carolina for the South Carolina Pro Late Model Championships. Luck was not on their side as they blew a trailer tire in route. Once the tire was changed, the team went on their way only to suffer a second blown tire 20 miles farther. After it was all said and done, and 3 blown tires later the team limped back to Wythe to wait for replacement tires that were being brought to them and unfortunately didn’t get to race in South Carolina.
The team plans to enter the No.30 at Winchester Speedway this Saturday, a place where Tyler picked up a win earlier in the year. Please keep up to date with results and information on Tyler’s twitter account at @TBareRacing30
