Dennis Erb, Jr. Fresh Off Buckeye Nationals Top Five Heading into LOLMDS Double-Dip
(CARPENTERSVILLE, ILLINOIS) Dennis Erb Racing extended their recent string of top five finishes over the May 13-14 weekend in the inaugural running of the 'Buckeye Nationals' at Atomic Speedway in Alma, Ohio! The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series presided over the two-day extravaganza, which boasted a whopping $50,000 payday and drew a stellar field of 49 entrants. Dennis Erb, Jr. knocked down the eighteenth fastest lap in Group B during Friday's qualifying session prior to blasting up to second in his heat race to finish behind only prelim winner Darrell Lanigan.
All eyes were then fixated on the 'Buckeye Nationals' on Saturday evening and Dennis rolled off from the outside of the sixth row in the 75-lap headliner. The Carpentersville, Illinois native methodically picked off seven competitors during the action-packed race and nipped Steve Francis at the finish line to garner a strong fifth place showing. Dennis, who now sits seventh in the latest LOLMDS point standings, trailed only victor Scott Bloomquist, Jonathan Davenport, Josh Richards, and Chris Madden at the checkers. The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will now take the #28 team to a pair of venues in Wisconsin and Illinois over the upcoming May 20-21 weekend.
