Cody Mahoney Takes Ponderosa Checkers; Brownstown Next for the Team
Seymour, Indiana (07/27/16) – Cody Mahoney finally got the bad luck off his back by powering his Black Diamond by Club 29 Race Car #77 Jay (not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)ens Racing Engine Super Late Model to the $3,000 victory on Saturday night at Ponderosa Speedway with the Ultimate Battle of the Bluegrass Series.
After a month away from competition, Cody Mahoney returned to action on Saturday night at Ponderosa Speedway (Junction City, Kentucky) for the Ultimate Battle of the Bluegrass Series (UBoB) sanctioned program. Drawing 22 cars for the Pete Abell Memorial, Mahoney started the night with a heat race win, giving him the outside-front-row starting spot for the feature. Inheriting the lead when race-leader, Dustin Linville suffered engine problems, Cody stormed to his second feature win of the season with Michael Chilton, Chad Stapleton, Jeremy Hines, and Chris Combs trailing him across the finish line.
“I hated to see Dustin [Linville] have bad luck while leading because I’ve battled some of the same issues this year,†said Mahoney. “Conversely it’s nice to be on the flipside of things for a change. We’ve taken the past month off to get our stuff refreshed, and it really paid off tonight. I want to thank Bryan Bowman, my sponsors, and my fans for their amazing support. This win goes out to all of these great folks.â€
