InsideDirtRacing.com new home for East TN racing coverage

InsideDirtRacing.com is new home for East TN racing news
By Richard Allen and Michael Moats

Fans and drivers of dirt racing in east Tennessee have a new home for news, information, and stories.

Inside Dirt Racing has been launched to give extensive coverage to dirt racing in the east Tennessee area. The InsideDirtRacing.com site will feature a variety of news, blogs, feature stories, and more for the east Tennessee racing scene.

The new site is the creation of Richard Allen and Michael Moats. The duo has decided to combine their efforts in bringing the most extensive coverage of dirt racing news in the area. The pair has a variety of experience already covering the local racing scene.

Richard Allen began covering NASCAR for The Mountain Press in 2007. From there, he started his own racing-themed web site called RacingWithRich.com and later added a second site, tennesseeracer.com, that covers dirt racing. Allen has also worked for the Knoxville Journal and DirtOnDirt.com.

Michael Moats covered the local racing scene for the Knoxville News-Sentinel from 2005 through 2011. He has also written feature stories for Dirt Late Model and Late Model Illustrated magazines. In addition to over 13 years as a photographer covering area racing, Moats have written for other publications including DirtOnDirt.com.

With most area newspapers no longer offering coverage to area racing, Allen and Moats saw a need for coverage that will now be delivered online.

“There is a need and a demand for coverage of dirt racing in the area,” Moats stated. “Our goal is to offer coverage that local racing deserves. We’re not in competition with Dirt on Dirt or any other racing web site. Our focus will be just on local racing on all levels.”

The site already features a number of new stories such as the plans for Randy Weaver in 2014, the lucrative schedule at Smoky Mountain Speedway, and a blog on how many support classes should accompany special events. More features and news items will be added for off-season reading.

“We have a number of new stories we’re working on for the coming weeks,” Allen said. “There is one story we’re working on that should have people talking. We’ll have plenty of content before racing starts back up.”

In addition to the news, features, and blogs, the site will also offer live updates of some of the biggest events of the area. Items such as podcasts will be added at a later time.
