FASTRAK City Chevrolet Touring Divisions Kick-Off 2012 Season with Doubleheader this Friday and Saturday at Cleveland County Speedway
Lawndale, North Carolina – The FASTRAK City Chevrolet Touring Divisions will kick-off their 2012 season with a pair of events slated for this Friday and Saturday night at Cleveland County Speedway in Lawndale, North Carolina. In it’s 9th season of competition the FASTRAK Racing Series looks to have its biggest season to date. “I believe we are going to have a great car count at Cleveland County and I know we will have some good racing. We have some of the best teams in the country and we expect to have many new teams and drivers this year.†said FASTRAK Founder and CEO Stan Lester. Several younger drivers like Dale Timms, Cla Knight, Jordan Dill and Kenny Collins all have come in this year and proved their mettle at the FASTRAK Winter Nationals and several other early season events. Add to that youthful contingent a strong mix of wily veterans like defending FASTRAK City Chevrolet Touring Division Champion Brandon Umberger, David Smith, Lee Cooper, Vic Chandler, Kenny Peeples and a host of others and you have a recipe for outstanding racing.
Cleveland County also boasts a strong field of FASTRAK Weekly Division racers like 2011 Bill Hendren Memorial winner Steve Hendren and 2011 NC/VA Challenge winner Jason Pack along with 2nd generation racers Trent Ivey and Adam Yarbrough among the standouts. Also expected to be on hand is Richard Childress Racing NASCAR Camping World Truck driver Joey Coulter, who just this past week picked up his first career FASTRAK Weekly win at Volunteer Speedway in only his 3rd race in a FASTRAK Pro Late Model. Young Pro Late Model racer Gib Gibbons of Manning, South Carolina will also be in competition on Friday night. “We had some exciting shows at Cleveland County last year and we expect more of the same this year. They have such a tough group of weekly racers and our traveling teams can compete anywhere in the country. We also expect to see a lot of new faces so I am really looking forward to this one.†Lester added.
Action gets underway on Friday night with the FASTRAK City Chevrolet Touring Division Pro Late Models headlining the card with a 40-lap / $2000 to win feature. Also in action on Friday night will be the Limited Sportsman, Renegades, Super Stock 4 and Young Guns all racing for increased purse money. On Saturday night the FASTRAK Pro Late Models will co-headline the event with their sister series the ULTIMATE Super Late Model Series. Saturday the FASTRAK drivers will vie for $2500 in a 50-lap feature event while the ULTIMATE Supers battle 50 laps for $4000 winner’s purse. Along with the FASTRAK Pro Late Models and ULTIMATE Super Late Models on Saturday night, the Limited Sportsman and Super Stock 4s will also be in action racing for increased purses.
