Southern Nationals & Iron-Man Tours Visit Lake Cumberland Speedway Friday June 15th

BRASSTOWN, NC (June 10, 2018)—On Friday June 15th, at Lake Cumberland Speedway in Burnside, Ky. will host the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels & Tennessee RV along with the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com. They’ll both co-sanction the “Johnny Wheeler Memorial†racing 31 laps for $4,031-to-win.
Lake Cumberland Speedway hosts the first of a Bluegrass State Doubleheader Friday June 15th as both tours will visit Richmond Raceway right up the road on Saturday June 16th paying $10,031-to-win Saturday during the Mike Roland Memorial.
This will mark the first-ever visit by the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series while this will mark the third-ever visit by the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Championship Late Model tour. 2017 winners by the Iron-Man tour at Lake Cumberland Speedway were Skylar Marlar and Jackie Boggs.
On Friday June 15th the Super Late Models will compete for the $4,031 first place prize with $400 going to start the 22-car field during the 31-lap event honoring long time racer Johnny Wheeler of Campbellsville, Ky. who passed away at the end of May. In addition, the Open Wheel Modifieds will race for $800-to-win, the KDRA Super Stocks will compete for $600-to-win and the KDRA Four Cylinders will race for $400-to-win. The pit gates will open at 3:00 pm, the grandstand gates will open at 5:00 pm, the driver’s meeting will take place at 6:45 pm and hot laps will roll out around 7:00 pm. Adult general admission is $23.00 while adult pit passes are $35.00.
Michael Page of Douglasville, Ga. won the most recent series event at Dixie Speedway on May 12th while David Payne of Murphy, N.C. leads the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series points. Daniel Miller of Shelbyville, Tenn. is the most recent winner on the Schaeffer’s Oil Iron-Man Late Model Series presented by DirtonDirt.com as he captured the $3,000 prize on June 9th at I-75 Raceway in Tennessee.
The tire rule for the weekend at Lake Cumberland Speedway and Richmond Raceway will be Hoosier 1350 and 1600 along with the American Racer 48 and 56. The series entry fee is $100 plus a transponder rental if needed.
