    Southern Nationals invade Smoky Mountain Speedway on Friday, July 27
    July 23, 2018
    For immediate release

    Maryville, Tennessee - Schaeffer's Southern Nationals presented by Sunoco and Tennessee RV will invade Smoky Mountain Speedway on Friday, July 27. The 53-lap, $5,300 to win race presented by NAPA Auto Parts could go along way in determining the series championship in the two-week mini series.

    A number of local and regional stars are competing for this year's Southern Nationals title. Dale McDowell, Brandon Overton, Casey Roberts, Shanon Buckingham, Aaron Ridley, Donald McIntosh, Robby Moses, Joey Coulter, Forest Trent, Cla Knight, and Australia's Craig Vosbergen are some of the drivers hoping to win this year's title. Other possible drivers on hand include Randy Weaver, Eric Wells, Michael Chilton, Stacy Boles, Kenny Collins, Dakotah Knuckles, David Crabtree, Bobby Giffin, and others.

    Also racing on July 27 will be the Durrance Layne Crate Late Model Series for $2,000 to win, the Mid-South Big 10 Street Stocks for $1,000 to win, and Kajun Mini Stock Association for a $1,200 to win race.

    Pit gates open at 4:00. Grandstand and tier parking gates open at 5:00. The driver's meeting is scheduled for 7:00 followed by hot laps, qualifying, and racing action.

    Grandstand ticket prices are $20 for adults, kids 6-11 are $5, and kids 5 and under are free. Tier parking is $25 for adults, kids 6-11 are $10, and kids 5 and under are free. Pit passes are $35 for adults, kids 11 and under are $15. Minors 18 and under must submit a Minor Release and Waiver of Liability form signed by parent/legal guardian. If form is not signed in the presence of an Smoky Mountain Speedway official, it must be notarized. The form can be downloaded from the track's web site at www.SmokyMountainSpeedway.com.

    Smoky Mountain Speedway is located 12 miles south of Maryville, Tennessee. From Maryville, take Highway 411 south for 10 miles and turn left onto Brick Mill Road. Follow Brick Mill Road for approximately 2 miles, the racetrack is on the right. The first entrance is for grandstand parking. The second entrance is for tier parking and campground access. The pit entrance is the next right on Crye Road.

    Points battle tightened up last night. Only two races to go and tonight is one of them. Looks to be a good field of cars for tonight's race.
