    Tarheel 50 Pays Record $10,000-to-win on September 28th at Tri-County Race Track

    BRASSTOWN, NC (September 20, 2018)—The 15th edition of the FK Rod Ends Tarheel 50 presented by Jacky Jones Automotive Group will be the largest paying event in the history of Tri-County Race Track located in Brasstown, N.C. The event will be on Friday September 28th paying $10,000-to-win and $500-to-start and again sanctioned by the Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series presented by Sunoco Race Fuels and Tennessee RV.

    On Friday September 28th the Super Late Models will race 53 laps for the big $10,000 payday. The event is also sponsored by AR Bodies, Hayesville Trailer Sales, CM Truck Beds, Advanced Transportation, Interstate Welding, Vinson Sims Construction, Rick’s Rental and John Boy Exterminating.

    In addition to the Southern Nationals Bonus Series Late Models, the 602 Thunder Series will be in action racing for $1,200-to-win. This includes the Modified Hobby and 602 Beginner as each driver will receive five points for attending. Also, the Street Stocks will race for $300-to-win, the Pony division will be in action racing for $300-to-win, the Front Wheel Drive class will compete for $150-to-win and the Young Guns will race for $150-to-win. The Limited/Crate Late Models will have the night off.

    The T.J. Farver Quick Six Dash will pay $1,000-to-win as the Super Late Model competitors will race six laps for the first three rows in the feature event compliments of Bob and Lori Farver in memory of their son T.J. Farver. Overall Fast Time will pay $200 courtesy of Hayesville Trailer Sales. The leader of the feature race on lap 51 will receive $100 from John Boy Exterminating.

    On Friday September 28th the pit and grandstand gates will open at 4:00 pm with the Driver’s Meeting slated for 6:45 pm and hot laps will follow at 7:00 pm. Adult General Admission is $25.00 with children ages 11-16 admitted for $15.00 while children ten and under are free. Adult Pit Passes are $40.00 while children ages 11-16 admitted for $20.00 while children ten and under are free.

    The Southern Nationals Bonus Series will utilize the following Tire Rule for Tri-County on September 28th: American Racer 44, 48 & 56 (RR option only) and Hoosier 1300, 1350 & 1600 (RR option only). The Southern Nationals Bonus Series-sanctioned event will see a full racing program of practice, Qualifying, Heat Races, Last Chance Races and the 53-lap main event. At each Schaeffer's Oil Spring Nationals, Schaeffer’s Oil Southern Nationals and Schaeffer's Oil Southern Nationals Bonus Series event in 2018, the highest finishing CT525 engine in the main event will receive a $200 bonus and the highest finishing Steel Head/SPEC engine will also receive a $200 bonus.



    In the 2017 edition of the Tarheel 50, Shawn Chastain of Murphy, N.C. captured the payday during a thrilling finish with David Payne who finished second, Donald McIntosh finished third while Kenny Collins was fourth and Kurt English finished fifth.
