Compton earned the pole at a near record 15.52 seconds and led flag to flag, but with a number of challenges.

Johnny Pursley was 4th and Jeff Smith was 5th. Johnny led laps 7-14 and cut a tire when a lap car spun in front of him. He came back from 20th to beat Jeff on the last lap for 4th.
