Sorry, but that's my story and i'm sticking to it.................................Originally posted by Rollover View Postyes, jason jameson won after spinning and going to the tail. chamberlain looked to be checking out and broke, then rice got took jewell out on the last lap, and the track didn't step up and do the right thing by giving jewell his spot back, thus jewell has boycotted the track, possibly for the rest of the year and maybe permanently since this may be his last year of racing, then jameson got around chinn on last lap for the win. best race of the year there easily so far in my book. Congratulations to Jameson and team....Last edited by 9bugman; 05-22-2011, 10:29 AM.

None taken. Had a few drivers comment on it after the race also. He turned down on Mike between 3 and 4 when Jewell got under him. Jewell was clearly there. The contact was more door rub. What Rice did in 1 and 2, (after Jewell took the white flag) was completely deliberate. Very surprised and disappointed.

I'll be sad to see Jewell go. He is one of my favorite racers, but Florence isn't going to change the rules for him. If you stop on the track for any reason, you go to the tail. It's been in the rule book for atleast 10-12 years. It's bitten countless racers, including the car I am with more than once. Going back to last year, Florence did reinstate something of a rough driving rule, but it has to be a lot more clear cut than it was last night.
As I said, Jewell is one of my favorites, and the nicest guy in the pits. Also, I am not a Jerry Rice fan. That said. Jewell doored Rice on the opposite end of the track when he passed him. I saw it as Rice returning the favor, with no intention of taking Jewell out, just completing the pass the same he was passed.
Best of luck to Mike the rest of the year, and I am saddened to hear that this will be his final year.

Thanks gentlemen. Your thoughts are appreciated. I would like to give a thank you to the 21 Cook racing team for their help last night in getting the car ready for the feature. We saw rain on the radar and had the car loaded and Mike was out of his driving suit and the track officials called for the lates to the lineup chute. The Cook team jumped right in and offered us their help and we made the green. Once again, thanks men for your help. These are the things that I'll miss when we hang it up.......

Rice has been very aggressive this year with last night being no different, he got into Jewell 2 or 3 other times before the yellow flag flew after the took the white flag. I hope that these guys discussed the incidents and Mike will continue to race at Florence Speedway.
Now onto the tower, in the past once the white flag was thrown & a caution was needed they raced back to the checkered flag but last night they decided that they would have 2 laps to go after the caution>

MAKE TODAY THE BEST DAY OF THE REST OF YOUR LIFE!

Mike Jewell is one of the best people I ever met. About 10 or 12 years ago I broke the gear in my car,a roadhog at richmond, and my cousin and I were having a time loading when Mr. Jewell and his team came over and helped us. After the car was loaded he talked to us for a half hour. That made an impression on me because he treated like fellow racers instead of a couple of kids just starting out. He probably doesn't remember that but I will never forget it.
