    Maryville, TN (6/8/11) Smoky Mountain Speedway in Maryville, Tennessee will play host for the second time this season to the cars and stars of the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series on Saturday, June 18th.

    The Pilot Food Mart "Big Daddy 500" will feature a fifty-lap main event paying $5,000 to win and $300 to start for SAS Late Models with an overall purse of $20,000. Many local, regional and nationally known drivers from several states are expected to embark on Smoky Mountain Speedway for this very special Fathers Day weekend event.

    The Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series; in it’s twenty-ninth season, is America’s longest running Dirt Late Model touring series featuring events in several states throughout the south.

    The SAS Super Late Models will kick off the action with two laps of qualifying each in VP Racing Fuels Pole Qualifying. The top ten will be locked into the fifty-lap main event with the remainder of the twenty-four car starting field being set through Hoosier Tire South B-Mains including two series points provisionals. The series will utilize the Delaware Double File Re-Starts format.

    Series points leader William Thomas of Phenix City, Alabama and a host of series chasers like Billy Ogle Jr. of Knoxville, David Payne of Murphy, NC Tommy Kerr of Maryville, TN, Tony Knowles of Tyrone, GA,, Brian Reese of Sharpsburg, GA, Skip Arp of Georgetown, TN, Jeff Franklin of Ten Mile, TN, Todd Morrow of East Ridge and many others are expected to battle local contenders like Mike Weeks , Steve Smith, Stacy Boles, David Crabtree and regional hot shoes like Ronnie Johnson, Derek Ellis, Riley Hickman and a host of heavy hitters from throughout the south for the title of Big Daddy 500 Champion.

    Local divisions in action include the Webster Motors Crate Late Models, who will be running for $1,000 to win. Modified Street and Pure Mini divisions will be competing for $500 to win each presented by Ujunkdit.com.

    Pit gates will open at 3:00pm on June 18th with tier parking and grandstands opening at 5:00pm. Adult grandstand admission will be $15; tier parking will be $20 with children between the ages of 6 and 12 admitted for $5 and children 5 and under will be admitted free. Adult pit passes will be $35 with all kids pit pass $15 each.
