Tazewell, Tennessee – The biggest race in the history of Tazewell Speedway takes place on July 2nd and 3rd as the World of Outlaws Late Model Series invades for the Outlaw Sizzler 101. The race winner will get $20,000, the largest purse ever offered by Tazewell Speedway. The race pays $1,500 just to start.

Rick Eckert and defending series champion Josh Richards are locked in a tight battle for the WoOLMS points lead. Darrell Lanigan, Austin Hubbard, and Tim McCreadie are also in close range of the points lead. Last year's WoOLMS winner at Tazewell, Shane Clanton, Cub Frank, and the other stars of the World of Outlaws Late Model Series will be on hand to claim the big prize.

Other drivers expected are Chris Madden, Jonathan Davenport, Vic Hill, Billy Ogle Jr., Tommy Kerr, Steve Smith, Jason Trammell, and track record holder Jeff Wolfenbarger along with a number of other drivers from across the region.

This year's race is a two-day format with time trials and heat races on Saturday, July 2nd for the World of Outlaws. Pure Streets and Modified Streets will also be racing on July 2nd. Consolation races and the 101-lap main event will take place on Sunday, July 3rd. The Tazewell Late Models and Classic Cars will also be racing on July 3rd. The Tazewell Late Models will pay $1,200 to win and $125 to start.

Tickets are as follows. On Saturday, July 2nd, general admission tickets are $16 for adults, children 9 and under are free, and pit passes are $32. On Sunday, July 3rd, general admission tickets are $32, children 9 and under are free, and pit passes are $40. Anyone buying a 2-day ticket package in advance will save $5 off the price of admission for both nights. That package will available online soon.

Pit gates open at 1:00 and grandstand gates open at 5:00 on both nights. Racing will begin at 7:45.

Everyone tells me the track is not known for high car counts Does anyone think 20000 to win 1500 to start will pull anymore in than normal you would think so I say 40 to 45 cars tops and i hope im way under for 32 dollar grandstand tickets

Twice the purse then for the lucas race and only $6 more. I'll be there for sure. If 6 bucks breaks me I'm broke anyway and need to stay home.Car count means nothing at tazewell to me. seen some hellaish races there with 12 cars many times and left with my face blue from holding my breath. can't wait!!!!

I agree with you but you have to take into consideration the size of the venue also. Taz doesn't hold near what some of the bigger tracks do. Either way I'll be there and have a great time. Racing is a vickle thing sometimes it's so so and sometimes it's great. I just wanna be there when it's breathtaking and hopefully it will be for the WoO show.

That is a good point also if you order tickets in advance you will get 5 dollars off each day so its not as bad as i thought at first Now all we need is a good turnout of cars some good weather and some fine east tn racing cant wait

We are still attempting to get things set up for the advance tickets through the WoO web site. I'll put in a call tomorrow to see if they'll be able to have it set up after all.

The ball was dropped on both ends about being able to sell tickets online. Instead, the track will be offering the Sunday tickets for sale on Saturday so fans attending both night can avoid the lines on Sunday night.
