136 Super LM Drivers Entered for “The Black Diamond†$180,000 Event at Tyler County this Weekend!
(Mars, PA) The WoO “Black Diamond 125†and UFo “WV State Championship†at Tyler County Speedway on September 1-2-3 promises to be one of the greatest events ever to be contested on a short track. 136 drivers have pre-entered for this $180,000 mega-event, indicating that it will have one of the highest car counts of any race this year! Fans will get to witness 4 Super Late Model features for a total of $48,000 to win with the top-rated national and regional drivers doing 3 and 4 wide battle on the racey ¼ mile track. Drivers pre-entered for the event will not have to pay the car entry fee at the gate to compete for this outstanding payoff.
The weekend will kick off on Thursday, September 1 with complete racing programs for the TSMA E-mods paying $800 to the winner and a complete program for the STARS Mod-Lites. Hot Mods and 4-cylinders will run their qualifying heat races and consolations to set Friday night’s feature lineups on Thursday as well as Mini-Wedge racing. Open practice will also be held for the Super Late Models and Pro-Lates. Pit gates open a 2:00 with grandstands at 4:00, mini-wedge racing at 6:00, drivers meeting at 6:30, warm-ups at 6:45 and racing at 7:15.
On Friday, night, September 2, the UFo Race Championship will invade the racey ¼ mile for the “WV State Championship.†Extended-lap heat races of at least 15 laps in distance will determine the initial starting grid with the remaining qualifiers coming from the consolation events. The 55-lap championship feature will pay $8,000 to win and $400 to start. All non-qualifiers will receive a cool $150. The starting grid of 25 cars will include 2 UFo provisionals and 1 track provisional.
In 2010, Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA came out the winner of the UFo “WV State Championship†over a field of 70 pilots. The pre-entry list for the 2011 version of “The Black Diamond†already includes over 110 drivers! Unanimous decision of the UFo drivers with perfect attendance has determined this event will award 75 points to all drivers regardless of finishing position. The UFo “WV State Championship†will have no car entry fee, as with all UFo events.
The FASTRAK Pro-Lates, STARS Mod-Lites, Hot Mods and 4-Cylinders will also contest “WV State Championships†on Friday night. The FASTRAK Pro-Lates will run a complete racing program for $3,000 to win, with the STARS Mod-Lites also running a complete racing program for $700 to win. The Hot Mods will run their 20-lap feature paying $500 to win with the 4-Clyinders also competing in their feature event. Pit gates will open at 2:00, grandstands at 4:00, mini-wedge racing at 6:00, drivers meeting at 6:30, warm-ups at 6:45 with racing at 7:15.
“The Black Diamond 125†on Saturday night, September 4 will rock the world with the coolest format of any Crown Jewel event. The World of Outlaw Super Late Models will be split into 2 groups. Each half of the field will compete in a separate racing program including a separate 40-lap, $10,000 to win feature for each group. The top 8 finishers from each group will advance to the $20,000 to win, 45-lap finale. The 45-lap finale will be aligned by a total redraw of those 16 drivers. It promises to be the most intense 45 laps ever run in racing! Donnie Moran of Dresden, OH and Birkhofer split the qualifying features in 2010 with Jonathan Davenport of Blairsville, GA winning the finale shoot-out.
The TSMA E-mods will return on Saturday for their “WV State Championship†full racing program paying $1,000 to the winner of the 30-lap feature. Pit gates open at 2:00 with grandstands at 3:00, driver autograph session at 4:00, drivers meeting at 6:30, warm-ups at 6:45 and racing following.
Race day 3-day passes are $55 for the grandstands and $65 for the pits. 3 day tickets for juniors 7-12 are $15. 1 day tickets for the grandstands are $10 for adults and $5 for juniors 7-12 on Thursday, $25 for adults and $5 for Junior 7-12 on Friday and $35 for adults and $5 for junior 7-12 on Saturday. The top 2 rows for the grandstand will be reserved seating and are a $5 upcharge to any ticket price
