Big Labor Day Weekend of Racing at Portsmouth (OH) Raceway Park Saturday and Sunday!

Portsmouth Raceway Park Hosts Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series with Huge Labor Day Weekend of Racing

WAYCROSS, GA (August 30, 2011) - The Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series will be in action this Labor Day Weekend with two spectacular shows on Saturday and Sunday at Portsmouth (OH) Raceway Park.

On Saturday Night, September 3rd the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series takes to the track with a complete show of Red Buck Cigar Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and the Pepsi 50 River Days Rumble paying $10,000 to win. The event will be taped by the Lucas Oil Production Studios and shown on SPEED Channel on October 2nd at 1 PM Eastern. Dale McDowell of Chickamauga, GA is the defending race winner.

On Sunday Night, September 4th the 43rd Annual "Hillbilly Hundred" comes to PRP for the first time with a $140,000 purse and a $25,000 payday for the winner of America's oldest dirt late model event. There will be a complete show for the LOLMDS with Red Buck Cigar Time Trials, Heat Races, B-Mains and the 100-lap Hillbilly Hundred feature event. The race which was first held in 1967 has a long list of winners and history as the event will be again sanctioned by the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series for the seventh time. Scott Bloomquist of Mooresburg, TN is the defending winner of this crown jewel event.

A special bonus has been added by officials for this weekend's events. A $5,000 cash bonus will be awarded if one driver wins both feature events. That driver would earn a total of $40,000 in winnings by winning both feature events on Saturday and Sunday. Saturday Night's Pepsi 50 River Days Rumble will pay $700 to start and Sunday Night's Hillbilly Hundred will pay $1,000 to start.

Jimmy Owens of Newport, TN continues to lead the Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series Championship Points Standings by 130-points over Scott Bloomquist. Don O'Neal of Martinsville, IN coming off back-to-back series wins this past weekend in Indiana and Kentucky is third in points followed by Steve Francis of Ashland, KY and Earl Pearson Jr. of Jacksonville, FL.

Jared Landers of Batesville, AR is sixth in the championship points and he leads the Quarter Master "Rookie of the Year" points over 15-year-old Tyler Red(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) of Corning, CA who was the pole-sitter in last year's River Days Rumble event.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early both days with the large crowds that are expected to be on hand Saturday and Sunday. General admission on Saturday is $25 and $30 for Sunday's event. There will be 2-day general admission passes available for $50. For more information on Portsmouth Raceway Park log on to www.portsraceway.com or you can call (740) 354-3278 for further info.
