Mar 9-10: $10,000 to win Pelican 100 at Ark-La-Tex Speedway! (Date change!)

The Pelican 100 is rescheduled for NEXT WEEKEND, March 16th & 17th.

Everything is just too wet (1.9 inches of rain last night) and more is predicted tomorrow and worse tomorrow night & Sunday. Thanks to our sponsors, racers and fans for their patience. We really wanted plan A. Now it's time for plan B! Cya next week!!!

    Practice THIS THURSDAY, March 15th!

If you like that, go 'Like' the Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/pages/Ark-La...11681355569776

It was a GREAT race last year!!! 100 laps of 3-wide Late Model racing with just 3 cautions and a last lap pass for the win by Ray Moore! The picture below, was the battle for the lead around half-way.

Well, got our first 500 fans at the Ark-La-Tex Speedway Facebook page! Thank you!

We're averaging over 250 new likes a month. It gets harder to find new fans as you go along though. Fortunately one of our biggest if not 'the' biggest race of our season comes out first with the Pelican 100 being set for March 9th and 10th. With that being the case, I see no reason why we can't hit 1000 fans by the time the green flag drops on time trials on Friday night, March 9th so that's our next goal. Updates and press releases about this race, purse, rules, etc. will go out on this FB page first.

In the meantime, everyone have a Happy New Year and we'll see you in 2012!!!

I don't believe there's going to be any changes over last year's rules but standby...I want to make sure before I post them.

Like last year, support classes at this year's Pelican 100 will again be restricted to two:

            Factory Stocks & Limited Modifieds

We think 3 classes is enough for a Late Model show like the Pelican 100 as opposed to running 4 or more.

            Agree?

              From Ben Shelton on Midsouth:

"Klint Byars and Ross Camponovo are making their first trips to Ark-La-Tex for the Pelican. A full host of other MSR Mafia members are already planning on being there including Leon Henderson, Scott Creel, Billy Moyer Jr., Jack Sullivan, Bub McCool, Morgan Bagley, Timothy Culp, Ray Moore, Ronny Lee Hollingsworth, Clay Fisher, and more.

Canadian driver, Mike Balcaen, told me in Arizona that he would be making the trip down again.

Can't wait to get back down there for what was possibly the best race I saw last year.

              - Ben"

Visit www.MidsouthRacing.com and it's corresponding forum. One of the best racing websites in America. And racers, if you want your own professionally done website, you can see all Ben's clients by visiting www.MSRmafia.com He does great work!

                  6. 1400
                  7. 1300

                    CHILDRESS RENTALS SECOND CHANCE race!

Adding one more qualifying race/non-qualifier deal this year.

On Friday the Late Models will time in and run heat races. That will lock some cars into Saturday's Pelican 100 and the rest into Saturday's B-mains.

Like last year, after the B-mains there will be a break. The first 10 rows of the Pelican 100 will be set by then. The 21st 'Lucky Dog' starting spot (worth at least $800) will be drawn from the non-qualifiers. Then the 22nd starting spot will be auctioned off to the highest bidder. So far, this is just like last year's format....

***NEW -- Then... 14 more names will be drawn from the non-qualifiers and lined up, 'heads-up' off of their Friday times for the 14-lap, $200 to start, Childress Rentals Second Chance! The top 2 cars will earn the 23rd and 24th starting spots in the $10,000 to win, $800 to start Pelican 100 -- $38,200 total A-main purse! The rest will be getting at least $200 just for having had their name drawn and having tried to race their way into the Pelican 100! Total payout this year is well over $40,000.

That means 15 cars in all that missed the top 20 in qualifying will get at least $200 back and it could be anybody. 3 of them will start the Pelican 100 -- one by draw and two by finishing first or second in the Childress Rentals Second Chance.

The rest of the non-qualifiers will get at least $75 of their $100 entry fee back. There will be another prize (prizes?) drawn by a non-qualifier too. They will draw another non-qualifier's name for a drum of VP-Plus Late Model fuel (a $500 value) thanks to Fast Fuel. More prizes could be added by then. So far at least 37 cars will go home with more than the $75 minimum but only ONE gets $10,000 and 'The Bird' of course!

                    Also new this year...

The NASCAR-style 'Lucky Dog Rule' will be used during the 100-lap race. When a caution comes out, the first car one or more laps down gets a lap back!

Thanks once again to Childress Rentals for kicking in even more at this year's Pelican 100 event!

Practice is one week from Thursday on March 8th and we race one week from Friday! March 9th & 10th! See you all soon!!!

I hope you guys have a great turn out maybe I can make it down there one of these days. I dont know how much of a difference it will make but you will have to compete with Boyds Speedway and Cleveland Speedway on those two nights as they have a double header the 9th/10th of March.

Friday Night March 9th: Boyds Speedway (Ringold, GA) $5,000 SLM
Saturday Night March 10th: Cleveland Speedway SAS Shamrock (Cleveland, TN) $10,000 SLM

Im guessing the cars that were going to either the Pelican or these two shows since they are so far away from each other wont be a factor but I hope both have a great weekend of racing I know I cant wait!!!

Last year we were against the Bama Bash and it didn't hurt. Plenty of distance.

Is the Boyd's race still on?

Who knows, if there are any rain outs this weekend we may have more comp.

Looks like Boyds is still on according to their website they are calling it the road to the Shamrock race. I think you guys will be fine plenty of distance between the locations and I really like the format you guys have put together for this race looks like its setup for a lot of exciting racing.

                          Good Luck to you guys!!!
