bad show at Winchester

Never go again. After 5 hours in the cold wind, the late model feature had not begun. Had to sit through too many stock features, street stock features and some of the mini stocks were so slow they were turning 20 second laps. Why doesn't someone get the idea like they do in Mississippi to run the big show halfway through the program so the out of town people can go home. We didn't drive 2 hours to see that junk anyway. This reminds me of a show that Moulton Speedway would put on -- I know -- I used to work there. Let's keep them there as long as we can to sell more hot dogs.
I've never left a track without seeing the big feature before. It was disappointing.

yeah i left before the latemodel feature, when they said there were 4 more heats til intermission i was gone, there was no effort to make the track descent , when the first hotlaps took place the track was black from top to bottom, i dont think they did anything to it after practice from the night before, it was a typical day race, but the track shouldnt of rubbered up that fast.

This was my first visit to Winchester, had a good time, yea it was cold, so what. it's February. It's a daytime race, what do you expect? If ya water it when the track is like that you'll tear up cars. Did ya notice the schedule? Things weren't going to get rolling until 12:45pm. at best. Calling other divisions junk is desrespectfull, these guys work hard and spend money too. The feature was done just after 6:00pm. and was actually a little better that I thought, a second groove was somewhat there and when Posey got into traffic, he did move up and down. The cautions, I think 5 of 'em, hurt the chances of Weeks and Busha to do anything.

The race had quite a good car count, takes time to run the races, I left after the Supers, cold or not, I stayed for what I drove all the way from Bama to see, some loud cars go fast! To say they dragged the show to sell more food is foolish, I was up in the tower and they were hustling it as best as possible. They even cancelled the top 12 LM hotlaps to try to save time but changed that call and gave the Supers some laps after the racers had concerns of no practice before the feature. Too bad the gripes on here are so prevalent.

With gas going thru the roof, we should be ultra thankfull that tracks are even open, that racers have "any" money to go race with and the fans will drive a zillion miles to catch a show.


One racer told me he needed to do well so he could put diesel in his truck to get home, that's how tight it is for some.

It was good to see a decent car count in all divisions, a good back gate is always healthy.

It is really not dragging the show out, it is like I have been saying all the time, every time they run a big late model show they have everything that has wheels on it to make up the purses and give the promoter that chance to make some money.

Don't get me wrong without the tracks making money there are no races to go to, but hey lets just run features only in the other classes, sometimes it would take less time to qualifying them one lap and lock in and run consi than to run allt hose heats then a consi

That show should have been done by 4 pm and over with. That is one reason I try to stick to sanctioned events they do have better organization even if the tracks have to pay for them
