MT. ALTO-As the 2012 racing season approaches the last two months of regular racing weekends, the American Motor Racing Association (AMRA) is in high gear with quality weekly racing at member tracks. Additionally, the "Money Season" of big races is quickly approaching for both Malta Modifieds and Tru-Tech Custom Late Models beginning with this week's $3,000 to win Jack Shutts Memorial at Skyline Speedway.

It doesn't weem like it has been 2008 since we lost our friend Jack Shutts, but time really flies. No matter how long, however, our friend is truly missed. Friday, July 20 Skyline Speedway will host the fourth annual Jack Shutts Memorial.
Jack graduated from Parkersburg High School in 1969. He had worked in the heating and air conditioning business for many years and was with Knickerbacker Inc. for 28 years where he served as sales engineer. Jack was very involved in his community. He was a member of the Boaz Lions Club and served on the local, regional and state level. He received the two highest Lions International awards, the Leonard Jarred and Melvin Jones Fellow awards. He was a member of the Ohio Valley Home Builders Association where he received the Richard B. Yoder Community Service Award and was active with Vienna Recreation, coaching hockey. He was a member of the Arnold Golf League and served on the board of the Horizons Group Home.
He enjoyed dirt track auto racing and had served as a flagger, announcer and scorekeeper at both Skyline Speedway and Tyler County Speedway as well as other area tracks for much of his adult life. For a time, he was even a highly regarded track photographer and was a regular contributor to Mid American Auto Racing News. Not only was Jack an influence in local racing circles, but he also traveled with several traveling racing series in various compacities. He was a key member of the Late Model PRO Series which travelled from the Midwest to the East Coast and along the Eastern seaboard to Florida.
The make-up date for the 4th annual Greg Schilling Memorial Race at Skyline will be Sept. 7. Ohio Valley Speedway has helped the AMRA make this a great two-day weekend as it will hold its annual $1,200 to win modified special on Saturday, Sept. 8. Two big days of Open Wheel racing!
Midway will host the ADRA/AMRA Late Models for the Jim Dunn Memorial on the weekend of Aug. 11 and 12 with $5,000 going to the winner of the Late Models Sunday and $1,000 to the Malta Modifieds. Saturday will be a qualifier for the Jim Dunn event.
I-77 will host the 44th Annual Hillbilly 100 Aug. 31-Sept. 2 hosting the Championship weekend for the AMRA Modifieds. A warm-up event--The Big Dawg 30-- for Late Models will be August 18. See Hillbilly 100 details at the conclusion of this release.
Two big shows coming up are the Twin 25's at Jackson County Speedway, an event that features the ADRA late models, while Beckley hosts the Miner's Memorial race the same night August 3.
The AMRA proudly presents quality racing each and every weekend at its member tracks. Over $650,000 has been presented to drivers over the past 18 seasons with nearly $65,000 going to Late Model and Modified drivers in 2012. The winner of the AMRA Malta Modified National Series will take home $5,000 in prize money!
