Hesston Gears Up for “The Ultimate & Challenger Super Championships†in October!
(Hesston, PA) The earth will shake in Central PA on October 11-12-13 as “The Ultimate & Challenger Super Championships†return to Hesston Speedway. The event website has been updated and will provide complete information to fans and drivers as it is released. This mega-event features high-dollar championships for 5 divisions including a total of $12,555 to win for Speedmonster and ULMS Super Late Models.

It will provide all event details as they are released including schedule of events, rules, payoffs, pricing, camping information, reserved seating information, area lodging, previous winners and a pre-entry list of Super Late Model drivers registered for the event.
Top row-reserved seating is available for Friday and Saturday nights. This premium seating will allow fans to take their seat at any time during the night and provides a birds-eye view of the action. These tickets are an upcharge to any ticket (adult admission, junior admission or pit pass) at the cost for $5 for 1 day or $5 for 2 days. Pre-payment of only the $5 upcharge is required to reserve a seat.
Hesston’s unique layout requires different options for campers. Campers may reserve a front-row parking space on the back straight viewing ramp for $30 for 1 night or $30 for 2 nights. Approximately 10 of these spaces are available and include a view looking over ¾ of the track. Campers may also camp for free on along the hillside on the viewing ramp. 2-day ticket purchases will be required upon entry for all campers wishing to stay in the back straight ramp area. Bleacher seating with a view of the entire track has been added to the back straight viewing ramp for those wishing to remain on that side for the event. Additional free, level camping will be available across from Eriksen Well Drilling at the intersection of Race Track Road and Redstone Ridge Road, within walking distance to the race track. Campers may also choose to stay in the near-by Seven Points Campground with the spectacular fall atmosphere of Raystown Lake. Available back straight viewing ramp parking spaces for individual automobiles will go on sale beginning August 16. Current season parking space holders have until August 15 to extend their spot for “The Ultimate†before the spaces go on sale to the public. The price for these spaces will be $30 for 1 night or $30 for 2 nights.
Area businesses can gain exposure and give to the racing community with low-cost sponsorship options for “The Ultiamte.†Businesses may become Co-Sponsors of “The Ultimate†for $450. This level of sponsorship will gain high-exposure through prominent links on the track and event websites, facebook page, press releases, printed program, event announcements and flyer advertising. Position sponsorships are also available for only $91. With the position sponsorship, the sponsor may choose the division(s) they wish to support and gain exposure through the print and internet media leading up to the event, as well as through event announcements and the printed program. Both of these sponsorship programs return to the racing community as they will be used to boost the payoffs for the event! These low-cost sponsorships is a great way to reach the high number of fans and racers that attend this prestigious fall event!

Pre-entry for Super Late Model drivers for “The Ultimate†includes major incentives. Drivers that pre-enter for “The Ultimate†will be guaranteed $300 minimum tow money if they race both days. Pre-entered drivers will also receive a $100 discount off the car entry fee. Super Late Model pre-entry is only $50 and can be paid upon arrival at the track. Late entry after October 7 will be $150. Challenger Raceway converted their mega-event into “The Ultimate†in 2007 where it famous for huge car counts and amazing racing action. That tradition now continues at Hesston as promoter DR Eriksen the “Dirt Doctor†has integrated the same elements of the event from Challenger in every way possible at Hesston. Like promoter Jack Lentz, the “Dirt Doctor†knows how to rework his track throughout an event to keep a premium surface for passing and side by side racing action.
The average winner’s starting postion in “The Ultimate†is 13th. Previous winners of “The Ultimate†include Billy Drake of Bloomington, IL from 15th on the grid in 2007, Jimmy Mars from Menomonie, WI from 12th in 2008, Bart Hartman from Zanesville, OH in 2009 after starting 20th and Jason Covert of York Haven, PA in 2010 from his 9th place starting position. Jamie Lathroum of Mechanicsville, MD is the defending race winner after starting 7th in the lineup and taking the race lead with only 8 laps remaining.
“The Ultimate will tentatively kick off with the “Track Test†on Thursday, October 11. This will feature open practice sessions for all classes, as well as pit space reservation on a 1st-come, 1st-serve basis. Hesston will utilize 3 pit areas for this event, with the Super Late Models in turn 2, Semi-Late Model Sportsman and A-Cadets in the infield and Hobby-Modifieds and Roadrunners in turn 4.
The “Moonsault Scramble†on Friday, October 12 will see the 1st night of racing action. The Speedmonster Super Late Models will compete in a full racing program with a 38-lap feature event. The winner will take home $2,555. The Roadrunners (fwd stock 4-cylinder) will compete in a full racing program with a 20-lap “Challenger Super Championship†paying $400 to the winner. Semi-Late Model Sportsman (limited/crate/steel block late models) and A-Cadets (street/pro-stocks) will race in their qualifying heat races that night.
On Saturday, October 13, “The Ultimate†will shake the world with the Speedmonster/ULMS Super Late Models competing in another full racing program with a 71-lap feature for $10,000 to win. The payoff will go deep into the field with all Super Late Model drivers racing both nights guaranteed a minimum of $300 in tow money if pre-entered.
The “Challenger Super Championships†on Saturday will see the Semi-Late Model Sportsman race 45 laps for $2,000 to win, A-Cadets going 30 laps for $1,200 to win and Hobby-Modifieds racing 25 laps for $700 to win. Consolations will also be run for the Semi-Lates and Cadets with the Hobby competing in their full racing program.
If Friday night’s racing is cancelled due to weather, an alternative 1-day program will be run with Super Late Models paying $10,000 to win, Semi-Lates paying $1,400 to win, A-Cadets paying $1,000 to win and Hobby-Modifieds paying $700 to win.
Hesston’s next event is Saturday, July 21 with the rescheduled “Revolution/Ron Strait Championship.†This race will honor our friend Ron Strait that was lost this spring.
“Revolution will feature the Speedmonster and 3 State Flyers Super Late Models racing for $5,100, Semi-Late Model Sportsman for $1,100, A-Cadets for $700, Hobby-Modified for $500 and Roadrunners for $222. 113 cars were in the pits including 41 Super Late Models when the event rained out on July 3.
