    Madden $4K Cherokee Beast Winner

    Madden
    Roberts
    Pursley Jr.
    Hickman
    J. Smith
    Dixon

Madden's setup was superior & he coasted thru the turns for 30 of the 40 laps as he easily pulled away from the field. Only 12 SLM started the main. Madden also won the monthly $2k SLM Special at Laurens Saturday in the Crowder #6 usually driven by Larry Timms, setting a new track record for SLM qualifying.

      12 cars. I wouldn't believe it if I hadn't seen it.

Weather websites posted gloomy forecasts well in advance & never updated as they took the weekend off. I checked the radar views Sunday afternoon & made my own forecast & went to the race. I'm sure many race teams & fans stayed away due to uncertain forecasts. 2 other times this year I have not trusted gloomy forecasts & got to see good SLM racing at I-77 & Cherokee.

Its safe to say that weather forecast had nothing to do with just 12 cars being there. It could have been 70 degrees with bright bluebird skies and it would not have made a difference in the car count.

the days of just openings the doors of cherokee and everybody showing up is long over. the promotor is living in the past. a lot of drivers pass on cherokee because of the unkept shape of the facilitiys. the track should never been shortend. and the rest of the track needs a serious upgrade. alot of equipment gets torn up in turn 1 and 2 lennie said he made the track smaller to increase car count yet every year the count get smaller and smaller.

There were 6 empty rows below me. But still enough to make some $ for the owners. I know folks from Newberry that stayed home due to the forecast, and I'm sure they weren't the only ones. Now I can't say for sure about race teams but just this summer BEAST pulled 25 SLM to Cherokee. Other than the calendar, the biggest difference between then & last night was the weather forecast.

The weather you hypothetically describe sounds like the weather for a recent BEAST event at Cherokee that drew 25 SLM.

OK it was not THAT COOL! But still a nice night & a full field.

25 Slm's???They have not even had 20 at any of the 3 Beast races at Cherokee. They had 19 at the one before this one and it was $5,000 to win.First one had 13,Second 19,3rd 12 cars......Point is the place is on the bottom of alot of drivers list to wanna race at.

If it had not been shortened, it would be closed. It had gotten to be "high-speed chasin'" and not racing. If you like that kind of stuff, sprint cars should be right up your alley.

Check out the $4K to win Stick Elliott race results & you will see the full field of SLM I refer to. Oops, only 24, not 25. My bad.

It may indeed be "safe to say" whatever you choose to say, but I stand by what I've posted.

yea old track so many cars that rigs had to park outside and standing room only in the grandstands compared to the ghost town cherokee has become. its more endangered of closing down now the its has ever been.

"Safe to Say" Majority of dirt late model drivers are not a fan of Cherokee and will tell u that.

the track was good when it was first made shorter , but i dont think there has been any new clay added in years .cherokee is still a good track ,just needs some work by the owners.

I was really surprised how good the track stayed together in turns 1&2 . It was in the best shape I've seen in a LONG time. Looked like they've put a little more banking into turns 1&2 . Really liked what I saw track wise Sun nite @ the Hall of Fame race. Think weather had a lot to do with the car count too. I'am a Davenport fan ,but I don't think anybody had anything for Madden he was just on his A game and that Clements Horsepower under the hood was awesome, wish Davenport and CBR would switch to Clements Power and drop that RYR Engine it blows.
