Hearing there isn't one this year since they have no limit on the Late Model Entries.

I personally don't see more than 75 Lates even with no entry cap (it's a LONGGG drive for most of the teams and they have other options to race for decent paydays with far less competition).

Knoxville Latemodel Nationals support class?

I e-mailed John McCoy the competition director at Knoxville about this very subject. He informed me there will be no support class because they have eliminated the limit on late model entries. I don't know how many extra cars this will draw but I do know it has been a complaint for some years by racers and fans alike. Its a step in the right direction! If you haven't seen Late models at Knoxville you need to get there! The racing is fantastic!!

A step in what direction ! I'm driving 5 hours Saturday to watch maybe a 15 laps d-main, 15 lap c-main, 20 lap b-main, and 100 a-main. 3 maybe 4 races, good thing I didn't already buy my tickets, but then again most people haven't. Knoxville puts on a really great 3 day Late Model Event, but no Mods to fill time, and last year put on a good show. This is really stupid, buy the time 50 mods buy 4 pit passes per car @ $40 thats $8000 ! Guess what i'm trying to say is there's hardly a cost to having them.

Except the overwhelming feeling in the grandstands the last few years is that the Late Model Fans didn't think there should be a support class...

I could care less either way, but with the weather cooling down, what is better in the long run to keep fans coming to the mid-west in late September? Having a support class and keeping your fans at the track until midnight or trying to get the show done in a decent amount of time without people freezing their A$$es off?

If I'm looking at it from a fan enjoyment standpoint, I'm dropping the support class. If I'm only looking at it from I can get XX more $$'s in entry fees, then I'm having at LEAST 1 support class.

I personally don't feel like ANY big dirt track event needs a support class (the World, DTWC, The Dream, King's Royal (sprints), Knoxville Nationals (sprints), Late Model Nationals, etc..)

I respect your opinion, but that's why the USA NATIONALS at Cedar Lake is the absolute best Late Models show there is in the county.........

It is one of the best, but the Knoxville Nationals are just as good, if not better.

I should have been more specific,when I said it is a step in the right direction I was speeking to the fact that Knoxville lifted the limit on the amount of Late model entries they would allow. I had no problem with the Modifieds as a support class. I was just trying to pass on some info to those wondering if there was going to be a support class.
