Cherokee’s March Madness for $10,000 is first on a busy Southern All Stars slate for March

HUNTSVILLE, AL (February 13, 2013)—The 2013 season for the Southern All Stars Dirt Racing Series opens up in a huge way.
The 11th Annual March Madness at Lennie Buff’s Cherokee Speedway in Gaffney, SC will open the 31st season of competition for the longest running Late Model tour in America on Sunday Afternoon March 3rd paying $10,000 to win / $500 to start. The event will be co-sanctioned with the now merged Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series & BEAST and will utilize tire rules from both series and the tires allowed for competition for this race only include: Hoosier 1300, 1350, 1450, 1600, D70 (Right Rear option) along with the SPEC 21 and 55. Also the 44, 48 and 56 tire compounds will be allowed for this co-sanctioned event. Race procedures and rules from both tours will be used and be announced at the drivers meeting prior to the start of the event.
In addition to the SAS/Clash Late Models on Sunday running practice, group qualifying, heat races, Last Chance Showdowns and the 60 lap main event, the SECA City Chevrolet Late Models will qualify and run their 25-lap Main event and the Renegade, Crate Sportsman, Stock Four and Vintage Cars will run their main events that afternoon. On Saturday, the track hosts opening March Madness events with several divisions competing.
The gates open Saturday at 11:00 am and on Sunday at 10:00 am with Tech and Registration open from 10:30 until 12:15 and the Driver’s Meeting will be at 12:30 pm and Hot Laps immediately following on Sunday. On Sunday, Adult General Admission is $25.00 but a two day pass (includes Saturday) can be purchased for $30.00. In the Pits, it will be $35.00 per person but a two day pass (includes Saturday) can be purchased for $45.00. Camping is welcomed in the parking area outside of the Speedway but no hook-ups are available.
