Fayetteville Motor Speedway will open up for it's 45th season of racing this Saturday night, March 23, 2013. The Carolina Clash Super Late Model Series will headline the event. The 5th Annual Ed Gibbons Memorial Race will consist of 40 laps with $4,000 going to the winner. Gibbons lost his life on February 1st, 2009. Lil' Ed's last victory lane appearance came in October of 2008 at Fayetteville Motor Speedway. Gibbons, who is a former Carolina Clash Champion, will have his memory honored on this very special night. Dennis "Rambo" Franklin comes in to this event as your Carolina Clash points leader.
In addition to the Carolina Clash Super Late Models, the Fayetteville racing program will include their weekly divisions of Late Model, Open Wheel Modified, Super Street, Pure Stock and U-Car. Pit gates will open at 3:00 PM on March 23rd with Grandstands gates opening at 4:00 PM. Drivers Meeting is set for 6:30 PM with Practice to follow afterwards. This will be FMS's first points race of the season.
Fayetteville Motor Speedway is located in Fayetteville, North Carolina off Interstate 95 at Exit 44 @ Claude Lee Rd. Follow the signs around to Doc Bennett Rd., then to the speedway! You can also get off of I-95 at Exit 46, head east on NC 87 for a short distance, and follow the signs to the track from that direction also.
