Blankenship wins on a wild night at Tazewell
John Blankenship took the lead from Scott Bloomquist and never looked back in winning Friday's Toyota of Knoxville 50 Lucas Oil Late Model Dirt Series race at Tazewell Speedway. The race was slowed early on lap 3 for a caution. But a multicar accident was triggered on the restart when Bryan Hendrix got into Billy Ogle Jr. setting off a chain reaction. All cars were able to continue.
The worse looking accident happened on lap 8 when Bobby Pierce flipped his car in turn 1. Pierce was okay as he walked away from the accident.
Blankenship held off Jimmy Owens near the halfway point. Owens' car began smoking near the end and that allowed Blankenship to comfortably pull away from the win.
