S.A.S Provisionals: Final 2 Positions for 24 car field
Top regional stars from across the southeast are expected to be on hand for the first points race of the 2014 Southern All Star season as last year’s points champion Riley Hickman of Ooltewah, TN., will be in action to maybe start defending his 2013 title. The 2007-08' S.A.S Champion Ivedent Lloyd Jr. of Ocala, FL., will be chasing after title number three along with former S.R.R.S. Champion Josh Putnam of Florence, AL. Chris Wilson of Crossville, TN., Michael Luna of Sparta, TN., Cale Finley of Ardmore, AL., and Dylan Ames of Harvest, AL., all are looking to run with the series in 2014.
A strong mainstay of Super Late Model talent from the Tennessee/Georgia area will likely be strong at Boyd's Speedway as former series Champion and current WoOLMs regular Clint Smith of Senoia, GA is expected. Another former series champion that is strong at his area tracks is Ringgold, GA's Jamie Perry whom won the title back in 1999. Tennessee racing icon Skip Arp of nearby Georgetown could be in competition and some of the Murphy (NC) Mafia could be represented in the form of the Chastain's (Johnny and/or Shawn), Jamie Oliver and possibly Gabe Wilson.
Boyd's itself has an array of talented racers that could cross-over into the S.A.S Super Late Model ranks for the weekend. Former Track Champion Jason Welshan of Maryville, TN is expected to compete as is former North GA Speedway track champion and Boyd's Crate LM dominator Jeff Smith of Villanow. Also possibly expect to see former Cleveland Speedway Champion Todd Morrow. Veterans such as Rick Hixson, Heath Hindman, Tod Hernandez, Lamar Scoggins and John Ownbey could all decide to compete in this event for a shot at the ShamRock Title.
