Dale McDowell Superb in Spring Nationals Series Stop at Boyd’s Speedway!

RINGGOLD, GA (May 23, 2014)—Dale McDowell picked up his third-career Old Man’s Garage Spring Nationals Series victory on Friday Night May 23rd at Boyd’s Speedway in dominating fashion. McDowell drove the Team Dillon Racing, Cometic Gaskets, Klotz Lubricants, Big Dog Motorsports, Ferris Commercial Mowers and WTW Enterprises sponsored E.C.R. powered Warrior Race Car Impala SS to the $4,000 payday, his second this season. McDowell’s previous victory came on May 8th at Duck River Raceway Park.

McDowell was the fastest car in FK Rod Ends Time Trials with a 13.072 seconds, besting a series-record car count (Spring and Southern Nationals Series) of 53 entries representing eight states. Heat Race Winners were Skip Arp, Todd Morrow, Ivedent Lloyd Jr. and Michael Chilton. Jamie Perry won the Last Chance Race.

Sanctioned race with their own officials, what's the big deal? There's others that do the same. Johnny Stokes races on a regular basis at Magnolia Motor Speedway which he owns with Charles from Hoosier. His car went through tech and as long as his tires pass who cares if he promotes the place.

Dale can win on any track anywhere in the USA, just ask Lucas or NDRL. As long as the officials and tech are from a traveling series who bring their own, there is nothing wrong with it. He doesn't own Dixie... no problem there... $10,000 weekend so far. Probably put some of it back in the track. Dale is good for dirt track racing.

I disagree 100 % the downside of Ray Cook running Tri County is we don't get to see him race there . As someone who supports the track every week I would love to see him win a big race at the County . I'm sure Dale's fans at Boyds feel the same way and were glad to see him win . I appreciate both of them and they both do a good job running there respective tracks , there good for dirt racing . Haters are gonna hate regardless , if there not complaining about that it will be something else .

One problem there doc, I'm not a Dale McDowell fan. I'm a fan of common sense. The worst thing he could do as a promoter is get popped cheating at his own track. He passed tech, he won. It's not like it was a regular show. Then again you've never let logic be your guide.

I agree on that B_K it would really look bad, but in the past 5 or 6 years I have watched as racers tried to promote and race and it seems that EVERYONE is gonna find something to bitch about regardless, but if you take your own car out of the equation then you take that much of the bitching out, do like Gar does, he races when he can but not at his own track... just a thought!

First Let me say I am a 17m fan. I was pulling for him at Dixie and glad to hear about him winning at the Duck also. It was mentioned on here and has been proven this week and through out his career that he can win anywhere. With that being said that's what he needs to do. Owners and promotors DO NOT need to race at their track. That's a horrible decision . They have way too much control and access to their facility. Someone like Dale with the resources and talent he has he is hard enough to beat but then you ad all access and control to a facility well it does sway things it would seem. With dirt racing being shaky in this area at best I don't think they done their self any favors with fans or fellow competitors although the competition may never speak out on it. I do think the car /tires was right I don't think any cheating was done I think everything was 100% straight up. However I do think it puts doubt into the fans and competitors minds and that doubt as we can see here spreads like wild fire and can be costly to an already strained sport. It's hard enough to get fans to spend their time and money to come to a dirt race with all else there is to do without the promoter winning the race. Had he ran the entire series that may had been a little different but that's not the case either. Just think the cons of him winning the race waaaaay out weighed the pros. I just hate to see a poor decision take even more of a toll on dirt racing in this area.

I also am a Mcdowell fan, but Dale is no average Saturday night racer when he races on his own track your chance of winning is deacreased by about 90% there, and Dale Mcdowell can win on any track anywhere think about, and it will hurt him in the long run, all that good fan and racer support will start going away. Don't you know he could have practice time on his own track if he likes and the other small race teams can't?

the thought of any thing shady never crossed my mind. no different than a pro team playing at home, I have not heard any drivers complaining.

The guys setting around me said what is he doing racing here,he is a professional and has Winston cup motors and works there, not sure if that's true. but if you had the equipment and could know you could take the money it would be hard not to.Some of the drivers may not come back but there is enough locals to race.
