RICHARDSON & GANT WIN WARM-UP RACE #1 @ Fort Payne Motor Speedway.... 6/21
Fort Payne, AL (6/21/2014) --- MotherNature was defeated by officials of the Fort Payne Motor Speedway Saturday night, as track promoter Marvin Ford was determined to get Warm-Up Race #1 in despite threatening weather conditions. A brief rain-shower delayed the start of the races by an hour but once the track surface was dialed in, racers and fans were eager to see some action. Cedar Bluff's Michael Richardson held off TJ Britton and Kyle May for the win in the Crate Late Model feature. Richardson lead start to finish after clocking a 15:085 Lap in "Tires R' Us" qualifying which set the #8 on the pole for the start of the race. In the "Complete Cash Title Pawn" Super Late Model feature Robert Gant of Flat Rock, AL took the win in preparation for the big $3,000 to-WIN FireCracker 50 event in two weeks. In other racing action hometown racer J.T. Seawright got his first win in the Barksdale Motors A-Hobby division. In the PrismaPrint B-Hobby class it was Gadsden's Bobby Bartlett all the way flag to flag for the win, In the Kountry Korner Sportsman class it was hometown driver Donald Templeton winning. In the Twin Cities Used Cars Pony class Ivalee's Chip Battles took the checkered flag and in the Kiss FWD division it was South Pittsburg Tennessee's James Salisbury Jr winning. Next Saturday night June 28th, Warm-Up Race #2 is scheduled to give the racers a final chance at readying for all the big money races the following 4th of July weekend, during the FireCracker 50 event.
