$450,000 UFo Trail Starts at Mercer & Tyler Co!
(MARS PA) – The 2011 UFo Race Championship will blast off again with a pair of events at Mercer Raceway Park and Tyler County Speedway. The UFo “Chiller Thriller†at Mercer and the “Topless 51†at Tyler County will mark the outset of the $450,000 UFo 2011 tour.
The UFo “Chiller Thriller†at Mercer Raceway Park will be the 1st 2011 Super Late Model special event season for the region on Saturday night, March 26. The UFo Super Late Models will compete for an increased payoff of $3,000 to win, $300 to start and $150 guaranteed tow money. The UFo “Chiller Thriller†will be the 1st high-power race car event contested at Mercer since the track was widened at the completion of last season.
The “Chiller Thriller†will be highlighted by a 41 lap UFo Super Late Model championship paying $3,000 to win and $300 to start. Any car that does not qualify that makes 1 lap under its own power on the track will receive $150. The UFo Super Late Models will compete in a full racing program of extended-lap heat races, consolation(s) and the exciting feature event. The high-quality UFo format will be in place for all 2011 events, which consistently generates an amazing amount of clean, side-by-side racing action and passing on the track. The UEMS E-mods and Stock Cars will also be racing for a whopping $1,000 to win each feature. The Star’s Mod-Lite Tour will compete in a full racing program while the 4-cylinder Mini-Stock class will round out the program.
Gates will open at 4:00 PM. Warm-ups will hit the track at 6:00 with racing at 7:00 PM. The rain date for the UFo “Chiller Thriller†will be Sunday, March 27 with times 1 hour earlier. Grandstand admission will be $15 for adults, $7 for students, $13 for Seniors and $30 for all pit passes. Mercer Raceway Park will offer their family pass for $30 to the grandstands for this event, which includes 2 parents and up to 4 kids 15 years of age and under.
UFo Super Late Model car rules will apply. Unlimited aluminum block motor cars must weigh 2,250 pounds with an 8†spoiler. Open steel block motor cars must weigh 2,200 pounds with an 8†spoiler. UFo spec motor cars will have a 2,200 pounds minimum weight limit and be permitted a 12†spoiler. GM CT525 motor cars may weigh 2,150 pounds and may use a 14†spoiler with 12†maximum height. Because the UFo “Chiller Thriller†does not include a Semi-Late type class, GM 602 and 604 motors will be permitted at this event. However cars with these motors MUST compete with a 12†to 14†rear spoiler with 12†maximum height. Transponders and RACEceivers will be required at Mercer with rentals available at the track through Precise Racing Products.

The UFo Super Late Models will invade the high banks of the Tyler County Speedway for the 1st of 4 times in 2011, on Saturday night, April 9. The “Topless 51†will feature the UFo space cars without roofs for the only time on the UFo Race Championship 2011 tour.
The “Topless 51†will feature an Area-51 lap UFo Super Late Model championship paying $4,000 to win, $350 to start, and $150 to all non-qualifiers that complete a lap on the track. No car entry fees will be charged to the Super Late Model drivers to compete in this event. The FASTRAK pro-Late Models, TSMA E-mods, TSMA Hot Mods, Mod-Lites, Eco-Flyer 4-cylinders and junior-age Mini-Wedges will also be on the racing program.
The UFo Super Late Models will run without roofs at this event. Race teams are permitted and recommended to seal off the top of the roll cage halo with sheet metal. Standard UFo/Tyler County car rules apply. GM 602 and 604 crate motor cars will not be permitted to compete with the Super Late Models since Tyler offers a separate class for those cars.
Tyler County, under the leadership of Circle Track Management Group, has become a stronghold in the UFo galaxy of race tracks. Tyler County will be the site of 4 UFo Race Championship events in 2011 including the “WV State Championship†on Friday night, September 2 which will proceed the $50,000 “Black Diamond†on Saturday night September 3. Previous UFo Race Championship winners at Tyler include defending “Topless 51†champion Paul Wilmoth, Jr. of Clarksburg, WV, Jared Hawkins of Fairmont, WV, Brian Birkhofer of Muscatine, IA, Zack Dohm of Cross Lanes, WV and Tim Dohm of Cross Lanes, WV.
