Brad McCown of Jackson County Speedway and the AMRA have collaborated on a deal to boost
the car count for the historic Memorial Day Weekend opener May 25 that features the AMRA Road Warrior Malta Windows Modified challenge series running for a $3,000 to win purse. McCown has lowered the "Modified Mayhem" entry fee to just $50 and the AMRA has waived the traditional AMRA temporary license fee for drivers not currently licensed under the AMRA.
"It's a win-win for everyone," proclaimed McCown. "We were able to secure additional sponsorship
and wanted to pass the savings on to the drivers. We want the 'Modified Mayhem 40" to grow every year, and we felt with the economy the way it was, we would 'pay it forward' and make every effort to give more driver's a shot to run for the big money. The AMRA agreed."
Previously, the entry fee was $75 but now lowered to just $50. "We felt that if Brad made concessions, then we would as well," said AMRA President Larry Keefer. "Some drivers expressed an interest in making the tow to Jackson from other parts of the state and beyond, and with the economy still at a sluggish point, we wanted to kick off this huge weekend in a big way. The Temp is waived for this race only."
"We were fortunate to gain a major sponsor for this event. With this opportunity to get more cars
and keep more local drivers at the track, Jackson Speedway management and the AMRA made concessions to make this the best event possible."
