    Keith Smith Captures American Modified Series Victory at Windy Hollow Speedway

    Owensboro, KY-June 3, 2012- The American Modified Series presented its second event of the 2012 season on Sunday evening with the tour’s first ever visit to Windy Hollow Speedway in Owensboro, KY and youngster Keith Smith of Clay City, KY would score his first-ever series checkered flag and pick up a $1,500 payday in the process.

    Trent Young and Keith Smith would bring the 16 car starting field to the green flag, with Smith grabbing the race lead and surviving three caution flags to lead the entire 30 laps of the event to pick up the inaugural American Modified Series event win Windy Hollow Speedway and also his first ever series victory. Top qualifier Trent Young would finish second in the event, with Josh Harris coming in third place. Current UMP Modified national points leader Devin Gilpin would recover from an early race spin and charge back to claim a fourth place finish, while Joe Godsey completed the top five.

    The remainder of the top ten finishers would be 11th starting and hard charger award winner Paul Miles, followed by Jimmy Payne, Rocky Wilson, Ricky Rudd, and Levi Kissinger. The 30 lap, $1,500 to win event would be slowed by three caution flags and take 20 minutes to complete.

    In preliminary action, Trent Young would be the Williams Precision Engine top qualifier among 16 entries at 16.262 seconds. Trent Young would win Hypercoil Springs heat one, while Keith Smith won Wiles Driveshafts heat two.
