RENEGADE OF DIRT MODIFIED TOUR RELEASES 2014 & 2015 TIRE RULE
(Middlebourne, WV) The Eastern Dirt Grassroots Entertainment company and officials of the Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour are pleased to announce its tire rule to be in effect for the 2014 and 2015 racing seasons. Renegade of Dirt officials are happy to quickly announce its upcoming seasons tire rule so that all racers have ample time to make any adjustments needed in preparation for the tours third season of operation which is set to be its biggest yet. The Renegade of Dirt Modified Tour tire rule has continued to be a point of much discussion over the past six to eight months. The common goal is to provide a rule that equally meets the needs of the competitors, series officials, and participating tracks involved in maintaining a successful touring organization.
There is a large need to find ways to lower the cost to compete, and it is a well known and widely accepted practice to implement a tire rule to accomplish this. The Renegades of Dirt continues its stance on being aware of the need to find effective cost cutting measures during our current economic downturn. At the same time, the Renegades of Dirt also continues firm on the stance that premature changes to any rule at the present time may cripple many racers, and be a detriment to involved touring race tracks. Taking into account the current economy as well as the classes future health, and after much deliberation and investigation, the Renegades of Dirt have made the following decision:
For the 2014 and 2015 seasons, for all Renegade of Dirt Modified Tour events, the use of any OPEN compound 8" modified racing tire will be allowed on the FRONT ONLY. This includes both the left and right front tires. The tires may be siped and grooved, however chemically altering the tire by any means (treatments, etc.) is illegal and strictly enforced.
For the 2014 and 2015 seasons, for all Renegade of Dirt Modified Tour events, the rear tires of the car which includes both the left and right rear tires only the use of an approved American Racer RoD PLATED SPEC TIRE 26.5/8.0 or 27.5/8.0 will be permitted. These tires may be siped and grooved, however chemically altering the tire by any means (treatments, etc.) is illegal and strictly enforced.
The base durometer number is harder than the currently used tires and will significantly diminish the need for a large inventory for the racers. The tires will punch at approximately fifty three (53) which will increase the wear time of a tire for the racers who seek a tire with improved longevity without sacrificing all speed and traction. The single compound rear tire will take guess work out of the equation, and control the costs of racing on the Renegades of Dirt Modified Tour. In addition to cutting tire costs for the racers, the use of this tire will aid in leveling the playing field from top to bottom and provide even better racing action.
“In previous years with an open tire rule participants were forced to carry twenty plus tires to an event to make sure they had all the compounds needed to be competitive. A single compound rule will allow for racers to cut down on the needed compounds to run with the tour†stated director, Cody Watson.
“The stamped tire will also help in tech. The tires will be punched on a regular basis and checked for prep. This is something we are committed to cracking down on in 2014 and this will prove much easier to do so†added Watson.
“Our original goal was to be G60 in 2014 but the concerns over financial implications for racers and host tracks were the primary motivating factors in the decision to delay the previously announced G60 tire rule. The revised 2014-15 tire rule provides racers an option to use existing inventory while decreasing needed tire inventories. Early indications show a favorable response from all involved, as the value to tracks and racers alike is easily defined in the ruling†concluded Watson.
Renegade of Dirt officials want to stress that the first few years of any business or organization is about finding out what works and doesn’t work while building the framework for an even bigger future as part of the learning process that leads to growth and stability for years to come. In saying, the tour wants to reiterate that the rules and procedures put in place and the process of such are designed to ensure the prosperity and quality of the touring program for a successful and sustained future so that participating tracks, racers, sponsors, and race fans can benefit each season.
