They prepped a great track last night at El Paso Speedway Park! 40-lap A-main, one caution, 23-car starting field, all finished with 20 on the lead lap, winner came from 13th, 4th from 14th, 6th place car at one point had started 18th! 3-wide racing, multi-laned track!!!

Not an easy task in the sun drenched windy desert. EPSP and Southern New Mexico Speedway in Las Cruces are owned and run by the same folks. SNMS has always been considered the better of the two and I'm sure it's going to be great for the USMTS Winter Meltdown starting THIS THURSDAY -- actually, practice on Wednesday too. Still same great purse and for the first time in the 20-year history of the Meltdown there is a feature with a payout each night!

I know Las Cruces is a long pull from everywhere but with only 35 Modified teams participating at El Paso, you sure it ain't worth it???

Cold where you are this week? Maybe your computer can warm you up a little.

I was looking at some of the forecasts for up north and unless you're an ice fisherman, THIS SUX! Kansas City--St. Louis--Chicago all COLD. Clarksville Speedway (Tennessee) race postponed till next week due to cold. Minneapolis? Don't ask! Today, Friday & Saturday the Hi temps range from 0 to 15 above there while the lows are from 6 below to 19 BELOW ZERO! OUCH! Sure makes opening day seem far, far away... BUT...

Down in Las Cruces, New Mexico at Southern New Mexico Speedway where the USMTS gang has gathered up, they are calling for mid-70s and no chance of r--- over the same three days. Can't make it? Well just file this info away in the back of your mind for next year and let's do plan B this year: RACINDIRT.COM!

I watched the live USMTS show from El Paso Speedway Park last week. GREAT RACE! The same folks own and prep both tracks out there and SNMS may be even better this week if that's possible. I mean I watched videos from Texas last week and Florida the week before and all the winter racing every where around the country and none of the Modified racing I saw compares to that race at El Paso last Saturday. It's the combination of track prep, great cars, great series and skilled drivers that get the credit too! If there was a better Modified race than that ANYWHERE in the last month, send me the video link! I want to watch it!

So, being that it's not going to be fit for men nor beasts outside in much of the country, why not stay warm inside and log onto www.RacinDirt.com and watch some USMTS Modified action from sunny New Mexico!!! Don't get alarmed, it's still a night race! Ordering info: http://goo.gl/8NFhGQ
