    UBB Miners Memorial Race Heading to West Virginia Motor Speedway, Sat. August 8th!

    Mineral Wells, WV – In a proud tradition honoring the lives of miners lost in the Upper Big Branch Mining accident, the annual UBB Miners Memorial Race is set to make its mark at the newly reconfigured West Virginia Motor Speedway on Saturday, August 8th, 2026. This special event serves as both a tribute to those lost and a celebration of West Virginia’s rich coal heritage, paying respect to the state’s proud mining community.

    Adding to the excitement of the evening, the track will host a highly anticipated debut, the FAST on Dirt 410 Sprint Car "Kings of Coal" Classic, paying $5,000 to the winner. Fans will witness the 410 Sprint Cars tear around the brand-new oval in what promises to be a thrilling addition to the evening’s racing action.
    The 16th Annual UBB Miners Memorial Race, sanctioned for the fourth year by the American All-Star Series, will pay $10,000 to the winner, making it one of the most prestigious Pro Late Model events in the country. UBB Miners Memorial Race Owner Keith Bowling said, “I’m excited to take the event to Mike Hurley’s reconfigured West Virginia Motor Speedway and look forward to carrying the event into the future.”

    Series Owner Joseph Rush added, “When I saw that Mike had taken over the track, I knew this had to be the home for not only the most prestigious event on our schedule but one that means so much to all Mountaineers.”

    Since joining the American All-Star Series, the UBB Miners Memorial Race has created unforgettable moments for fans and drivers alike. Tennessee’s Cory Hedge(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word)(not a nice word) took the first victory under the series’ sanctioning, followed in subsequent years by Kentucky’s Josh Dietz and Knoxville’s Trevor Sise, each etching their names into the event’s storied history.
