That is a fine suggestion maestro.........
Where is the move over flag when you need it?????

I'm confused about those saying this is going to cost the little guys so much more money and more tires. Without any cutting in the tire, couldn't you just buff it out if it gets hot or seals over and then re-use? Or would that not work?

There are series that do allow multiple brands. People cut and buff American Racers, too.

Other than the Scott Autry ( benchmark mistake fiasco) has anyone that runs AR ever had issues with them coming back hot.......or hearing that they were tested and did not meet benchmark.

Tony, you mean......"we gotta pass it to see what's in it"? LOL

The powers that be know there is a problem all the way around......they are trying to correct and get a handle on it......it will be a rocky road until they come up with something consistent and fair......it's not a one answer overnight fix, unless that answer is just to go outlaw on the tire rule.

So far , and like always......Lucas is ahead of the curve.

All obvious points, that seemed to be missed by a few Basementeers and a certain steak sauce producer.
The fix is more trouble than the problem, IMO. People have always cheated tires. It has not always been a problem that "had to be fixed."

1). They force you to run a softer tire than you would run if you were trying to conserve tires.

2). Budget guys buy used tires in bulk from top teams. Your 25 lm20 tires in inventory are now illegal because the pro you bought them from sipes them.

And, if Eldora makes them run the tires "unaltered," and they are the only event doing so, couldn't tires worth re-using be cut/siped/needled AFTER the World?
I realize there will be a cash outlay for tires to compete at the World and a % of those tires will be used up at the event. (that % is the same cut or uncut... tires wear out) However, tires that are still good could be cut AFTER the world so I would think the teams aren't necessarily "out" that money.
And while it is true that top tier teams will be on new rubber constantly and lesser teams will have to run used tires, is that any different than how it already is in the racing world??

The Renegade Modified tour has caught hot ARs before.

As a guy directly involved in the sport at the higher level, what do you think the answer is to all this? Personally, I think the sanctioning bodies and the tracks have been backed into a corner.
Honestly, and I hate to say it but I think the only thing that can help is much stiffer penalties, cost vs. reward . There is just to much ambiguity in this whole deal and nobody is going to admit to cheating.

And to everyone who think you can just buff a sealed up tire and reuse it, good luck. Whenever I have a tire that sealed, it was trash, and that's with grooves and sipes. That's why I say there will be new rubber everytime they hit the track, can't take the chance.

Was it a blue ridge lab deal or was it tested by another group?

Not for any particular reason , just curious,

Mastersbilt and Talon hit the nail on the head. I have bought tires from bigger teams many a time, they are always cut in some manner.

I want to point out 2 things with this debate.
                            1. The racers and teams that are not unlimited resource are saying this will not save them any money, and will render their existing tire stockpile illegal.
                            2. Fans on here complain they want to see huge car counts, it is important to realize that only about 10 cars have a shot at winning the World 100, 20-30 can do well and rest are lets face it there for the fun of the sport (I am in this boat if I was going), making rules that hurt these 30-40+ field filler cars will only cause you to have less overall.

Maybe I should ask it this way........has there ever been any tire come back as " not meeting benchmark" from any other lab except blue ridge labs.

                              Again, just for curiosity sake.

Yes, they use Blue Ridge labs.
