If a track had no tire rule per say, what would be the problem with cutting/prepping however a team wants? You can over cut a tire and you can over prep a tire. If there is no tire rule then a driver stands a pretty good chance of going to hard or soft on a tire because one doesn't know what the track is gonna do, especially in a 100 lap race. What I'm trying to say you stand a chance of doing more damage to a tire by over working it. I watched Bloomquist come to a track in Beckley WV in 1993 I think was the year and he missed the tire one way or another. At this particular race there was always a stop at 50 laps to add fuel only. A driver named Steve Lucas came from the tail and pushed Scott until the 50 lap break. Scott tried to change tires from the lead on the break and the track officials wouldn't allow it. Scott loaded his car in the trailer, went home and vowed he would never be back. Moral of the story as good as Scott is he felt he missed the tire and he knew the 5 of Lucas had him covered. I think if a track or series had no tire rule the racing would actually be better. Maybe a guy who starts in the back or is under resourced or funded hits the perfect tire combination and knocks the big names teams and drivers off. The reason the big series have the tire rule is because the tire companies give them big incentives $$$. Back in the day a tire choice was a huge decision and now you run what the series tells you to run. AR, Hoosier, Goodyear?? Let them run what they want

why just why? This rule has just destroyed the dreams of the many that just want to be part of this event.
I'm guessing this was the intent not the tire dope issue. There will be excessive dope in those uncut tires . What will be missing are the field fillers that are there to just race.
The world 100 will not be great without those huge car counts and I just don't understand why they want to cut the field . No sense.Shocks by BGR army

I'm not saying any of the 5 suspended so called tire dopers weren't cheating and I understand the UMP or WOO officials or whomever sent those tires off have a hard on for some of the Lucas drivers. Also if the police aren't getting any arrest what's the point in having them? Point being,, if the lab tests the tires and finds they are all good to go what's the point in UMP or WOO whoever paying thousands of dollars for their services in the future? Just saying, maybe they had to find something??

simple everyone would be legal and woo/wrg/ump or any other sanction would not be liable is something strange would happen with the tires now as far as cutting the tires not sure whats going there should be interesting like was said before as far as tire doping stiffer penalties should come to playLast edited by old fan; 08-18-2016, 08:27 AM.

I would think Friday could be a land rush for lightly used tires on a steep discount from the big boys. A couple brand new sets of tires for the local guys Thursday and then after that many teams could race the rest of the weekend on the barely used tires. I know of several local teams that win races regularly with uncut LM20 tires. A few years ago, one guy won about 5 races on the same uncut RR. Eldora hasn't been abrasive for several years with the dirt they've hauled in. I do agree that the soft tires for the 100 lapper kinda stinks because it will force guys to drive very conservatively for quite a while. That makes the race less exciting when guys can't push hard for most of the race. But let's not forget that Billy Moyer's last World 100 win came on a set of LM20...

I could care less about the compounds, 20s will go the distance even if it's black. Unless someone dopes them up . But it's this rule creation that puts the little guy out that bugs me.
Unless everyone is fine with the same 28 cars everywhere 1 to 2 times a year I guess it's going the way of nascar.Shocks by BGR army

That's what you bunch of dam cheaters get.......you all shouldn't be cheating and there would be no need for rules.
And don't deny that you cheat, heard it from three VERY reliable sources that all of you do it.Where is the move over flag when you need it?????

Get out the lathe and make some thin cuts to make that 20 survive. A heat cycled 20 may be better than a new one in the 100 laps. They will spend time on other aspects of the tire if not siping and grooving. Takes out one aspects and throws another. A grooving iron and siper is cheap compared to a lathe to spin a late model tire.

This isn't about cheating it's about removing smaller teams that the"in" crowd deem not professional enough. Not to mention the pocket lining for Hoosier .Shocks by BGR army

Eldora has got to be the only track in America looking for ways to get rid of cars. smh I have no doubt that you have a logical point, but your post does not show it.Originally posted by Brian Gray View PostThis isn't about cheating it's about removing smaller teams that the"in" crowd deem not professional enough.
