Most all drivers do this. Dirt racing is completely fan driven and all successful drivers know this. It would be stupid for a driver to not treat fans well.Originally posted by Dirt Racing #1 View PostHe is racing for a living. Racing is sport. Do you go to a baseball or footbal game. Talk to the players after the game has started. Bloomer is nearly always open for autographs and chat with fans AFTER the race.

Countless stories like this but you always hear people say you have to "catch him at the right time". It's really simple folks: From the time the driver's meeting is over until the checkered flag drops on the feature, these guys are WORKING. They are focused on what they are doing and do not have time or the energy for interruptions. You wouldn't go down to court level and ask Lebron James for interview while he is on the bench at the beginning of the 4th quarter of a close game. Treat drivers the same way. Fan/driver time is before and after the race, not during the event. These guys have a lot on their minds between heats and features. Let them do their thing. After the race is over, you'd be really surprised how down to earth 99% of them are.

for all the victory lane bluster, Scott, in my limited dealings with him has always been personable. Dale Sr. Story, not mine but one I really like. I'm not an Dale fan by any means but this speaks to the kind of guy he was. He was driving down a country road one day and there was a little church and two kids having a car wash. Dale stops and has his car washed and asked what the fundraiser was for. The kids replied that the church was raising money to pay the lot. Dale wrote a check for the cost for the paving and went on his way.
