Did the Kenny Wallace Dirt Experience Today...

They brought six cars... four broke. I signed up for ten laps in a late model... got 15 in a b-mod... too long of a wait to drive the last new XR-1 (that's a joke btw)...

The winged sprint had engine problems... the LF wheel fell off of the unwinged sprint (but it was repaired)... one late model had the four bar break and the driveshaft fell out of the transmission... the L-Mod they had was stuck in 3rd gear IIRC. No real mechanic and few tools...

I ran into two old buddies... one used to race at two of my old tracks and the other guy worked for me doing everything from serving burgers to watering the track.

I used to work and live at this track (141 Speedway) from '84-'86... did the announcing, advertising and PR. I was the GM in '86 before moving to reopen the shuttered Luxemburg Speedway in '87. The last time I circled this joint it was a 1/5 mile paved deal... things have sure changed.

Back to the driving thing... despite the cars breaking it was fun... but those worn out 602 crates sure don't have much zip. If you've never driven a dirt car it's a good way to spend $99.00.

I'm the good lookin' one in the pic...

Cool deal man. Long as you had fun, all that matters.
Up in the air who my next “favorite” driver is. Really losing hope on Bloomer getting anywhere back to “normal”.

For Christmas my son gave me a gift from Kenny Wallace's Driving experience to go for a "ride along" in the two seat sprint car at Bridgeport, NJ Speedway. After arriving at the track I was informed that the sprint car had broken down the week before. I could reschedule or take a ride in a UMP modified......big difference between the two. Since I was already there I rode in a modified. I did enjoy it, but I'd be lying if I didn't say I was disappointed.

Broke down the week before and not fixed?

It was in MI a couple months ago. Didn't hear anything negative though. Comes back again I think next week. I think they just have 3 cars. Sprint LM and mod.

Headquarters is in Rhode island according to the contact info. When you sign in most stuff sez "Rusty Wallace" so I think it's run under one big umbrella. Rusty and Kenny license their name to be used... I doubt they have any say in the daily operation of this whole deal.

Could be... maybe the cars are from TX and the office is in CT. Regardless it's a neat deal but was kinda frustrating having to wait around. The people were nice... apologetic even. they gave me an extra 5 laps for waiting which was good.

My friend Joel who's in that photo has five modifieds in his shop... he hasn't raced in several years. But he was suggesting we could start out own deal like this... there's local sprint car school around here. Gotta do some thinking about this...

Glad you enjoyed yourself, I still say he's is a big blabber mouthed nothing, if his last name wasn't Wallace he'd be working at McDonald's. Makes me sick when he shows up with his modified full pit crew and corporate sponsor taking money out of the pockets of the true small racers.

Wow. That is some serious jealousy.
