Randy Weaver retires; Brandon Overton to the 116

The last two years running nationally on the WOO series was very productive for Brandon and his team, IMO. Tenth in points/ROY for 2015 to 4th in the points this year is nothing to sneeze at and certainly trending in the right direction. Without insider knowledge of either team.....guess I'm having a hard time seeing this as a major step up for Brandon, especially if they only run regionally. I would think at his age he would want his name out on a national level constantly. Again, this is just an opinion from someone with very little knowledge of the situation but I do want to wish all involved good luck moving forward and congratulations to Randy for a very successful career.

It's all about resources and backing. Big step up. He'll be a player on the national scene whether he follows a series or not.

I feel the same way, especially with this equipment I could see him being a contender right up there with Richards and Clanton. At the very least 4-5 wins on the WoO series behind the wheel of the 116 for sure. It will be a big hit for WoO if he leaves, I would expect them to spend some time in the off season trying to persuade them to stay.

I think if he wanted.......they could have done that same thing on a regional level in his original equipment. Has the Weaver team ever ran a national series? Wins at that level? Crown Jewel wins?

Yeah...like I said, really don't know much about the situation other than just being a "fan" so you are probably right. Either way, wish them the best since I respect all parties involved.

Davenport is where he wants to be.That combination was working very well before CBR came into the picture.Good deal all around.Overton definitely deserves an opportunity and this should be a good one.

He's been driving pretty well a family car. Varnadore's help him out quite a bit, but he has a lot of people that keep him on the road. As far as I know it's just him and his brother out running the WoO deal. It takes a lot of manpower and resources to do this stuff at any level anymore and the Weaver/Stone operation offers him that. He has stated that even though he has accepted this ride, the equipment he's been driving isn't going anywhere due to his great relationship with Doug and Kathy. They've been with him a long time so he'd be crazy not to accept this offer, touring or not, although I hope to see him back on the Outlaw trail in 2017. And If it doesn't work out he does have something to fall back on.

One interesting way it could play out if Brandon wanted to go back out on tour is having two solid rides that could run parts of the schedule so neither team has to bear the traveling costs associated with the whole tour.
