Carls contract was up at the end of 2017, so is Matts, Joe Gibbs already said Eric Jones would race for him in 2018, and most likely Daniel would be ready for cup too... With only one seat open at Furniture Row, that leaves one guy looking for a job..... Most in house contracts are close to being done for 2018 by now if they are going to happen .... My guess is Carl was the odd man out, he told them to get started now, and that is why he cannot race in 2017..... Or he was offered a TV deal that he could not refuse..... Heard rumors he is not happy with the new cup sponsor choice, but cant see that as a reason.....
